Ace's outfit makes sense assuming they're sticking with the thing established about her from SJA about her running a charity organization now, which was also referenced in Sophie Aldred's novel and one of the Blu-ray trailers she appeared in. I definitely get CEO vibes from it.
As for Tegan, I'm sure her outfit makes sense within the context of whatever this episode says she's been up to in recent times.

Fun fact, Tegans coat is entirely made of woven celery, with each button being a small condensed package of celery absorbing radiation goodness that one can consume in cases of emergencies.
The interview with Chibnall in the new DWM is very revealing and he says more in it than he has since he got the job.

Good to know that we don't have to worry anymore about Bel and Vinder's baby being The Doctor.
Although this still leaves us with the option of "far future Doctor staggers through a portal and regenerates into a child on the other side" predestination paradox.
Ugh, yeah. I hate that one more than Bel's baby idea.

That was how I felt about the John Simm Master most of the time. Considering how good Simm was in shows like Life on Mars, I didn't think his talents were used well in most of his Doctor Who appearances.
I felt the same of Simm. He had some good bits, particularly in "The Sound of Drums" before he became super manic, but I didn't really enjoy his performance until he returned in "World Enough and Time"/"The Doctor Falls."
Conversely, I've mostly loved Sacha Dhawan with few minor exceptions (blanking on details at the moment).
Simm was a great Master. There were shouty madman bits, particularly in “The End of Time” where he was more a plot device than the antagonist, but I don’t think that’s remotely a fair description of, say, the black comedy of the scene where he gases the cabinet, or the almost flirtatious tension of the phone call with the Doctor, or the desperation of the death scene, or…
Thing is, it feels like another case of something that is actually pretty much like something that came before being treated as some anomalous and bad new thing because it's happening now instead of ten or fifteen years ago.
Is it controversial to say that I'm not a fan of any version of the Master other than Delgado? And that's only because I enjoy the dynamic between him, Three, Jo, and the Brig.
Every version since then has felt to me like a generic and annoying comic book villain, with Simm and Dhawan's Joker-inspired versions being the most grating of all. Although I couldn't stand Missy either.

I actually think that's fair. Delgado had this quiet, elegant menace to him.. Or at least that's how I remember it. I did enjoy Simm's Master, though... He made the character his.
Actually, that reminds me that I did also really like Derek Jacobi's Master.
If Doctor Who had been running in the 90s, I would have loved to see someone like Tony Jay in the role.
