Spoilers The Flash - Season 8 Discussion Thread

He was the Earth 3 Firestorm, I believe. I would like to see the return of Jackson for this arc, and maybe even end with he and Ronnie as Firestorm.

I haven't seen the most recent episode yet, so a few notes fromthe previous week.

Do they have the budget to portray the 31st century properly with the Legion of Super Heroes?
I doubt it. However, Supergirl had LSH characters without showing the 31st century, so it can be done. If Iris' timey-wimey thing sent Tinya's mom to the future, the resolution of that storyline could have her sending Tinya there too.

How's Robbie Amell's career doing these days?
Pretty good! He stars in Upload (which is quite good IMO) on Amazon Prime. I think they film in the same area.

I've learned that Tinya is based on Phantom Girl from the Legion of Super Heroes, so I'm kind of hoping her story arc somehow leads to a guest appearance from Supergirl's Brainiac-5 and Dreamer. I'm also hoping the Black Lantern elements mean we might get another Diggle appearance and some movement on the whole GL question. Or maybe the Firestorm connection could set up an appearance by Jefferson Jackson.
I'd be happy with any or all of those! I really miss Brainy. :weep:

I thought that was the best episode of Flash since Armageddon. That was some nice forward progression, I'm appreciating the Caitlin focus this season and we got some amazing Flash effects set to Metallica's Ride the Lightning. I do wish Cisco was here over Chester though, and Allegra really isn't serving a purpose at all, but other than that, I was impressed with that episode. In terms of Iris, that sucks what happened to Deon, but then Eddie Shows up? I really hope there is a connection between the episode that came back from the Armageddon Hiatus to the end of the season. I wouldn't mind seeing Nora and Bart again.

My favorite part was Kramer's speech to the cops. It's nice to see them become more than just background extras and actually show how they cope with a supervillain crisis, and how they collaborate with a superhero team.

Although I'm not sure how keeping grieving people off the streets will protect them from Deathstorm, given that he can teleport and phase through walls.

I kept expecting "Esperanza"'s fight with Allegra to have some significance. The aftermath scene called attention to that damaged circuitry panel on the wall, suggesting that the fight was really a cover for damaging that circuitry, but it didn't have any payoff, at least this week. Or maybe I'm just thinking that because the show used a similar beat in "Armageddon."

It's starting to bug me that Caitlin and Frost have the exact same hairstyle. It made sense when they shared the same body, but now that they're physically separate people with different personalities and aesthetic senses, it seems incongruous that they style their hair identically. I'm guessing that the stylists actually color Danielle Panabaker's hair with some removable dye rather than putting a wig on her, but then, that just calls attention to the artifice of the same actress playing both characters. At least they could do something to change the style, if not the length.

I watched the first Doctor Strange movie just before this and I was reminded how much Deathstorm was like Dommanu. Both entities from a dark universe that want nothing but darkness everywhere else.

They have done a nice job with Kramer this season. From her finding out who Flash was and getting the Flash Signal to last nights episode, I've been impressed by the turnaround of development. I remember really hating the character when she first showed up.

I was more interested in the attention given to the supporting officers. Particularly Daisy Korber, the one who told the Flash it was nice to have him on the team. I checked, and it seems she's been recurring for the past three seasons, though it hasn't sunk in with me until now. It seems like they're doing more with Korber this season.

Danielle Nicolet has teased that there is a huge unexpected cameo in the season finale.

I am going to throw out my own rational theory. Mark Hamill is currently filming The Fall of the House of Usher in Vancouver.

Last time he appeared on the show was in the beginning of season 3, 2016. Last year I found an older podcast interview with him. From 2018 before The last Jedi was released. Mark revealed that there were 2 return appearances for him as the Trickster that did not happen for different reasons. Him and John Wesley Shipp were supposed to do another episode later in season 3. But this really surprised me - John had a scheduling problem because he was appearing in a play at the time. Than at another point he was offered a cameo but declined because of how slow customs into Canada are. Considering it was a small appearance. Which was before COVID.

But now he is already in Vancouver...
