Well, your forum display says you hail from Canada. Tell me, can you pronounce 'Shawn' differently from 'John' and 'Quran' as various accents in the world do? And if you can, what does that say about all the North Americans who cannot?
Heh, it occurs to me that it must be a pain in the ass for transgender English or Australian individuals named 'Don' or 'Dawn' to visit certain accent regions of the Anglosphere.
It's not canon unless it's on screen. And it's said to be unpronounceable. Thus if it's pronounced on screen it's not unpronounceable.

What's getting worse and worse? They are expanding upon an era with limited information and a lot of fan assumption.
In what way does revealing a first name that was already said to exist alter the character? It's just a bit of background filling in the blanks for eagle-eyed fans, not a significant change to the character. They're not going to start calling him by this name.
