Spoilers Season 3 Cast Announcement

Do we think Spiner will be playing his character from Season One? I can't see him playing Data again.

I think everyone is at peace with Data's current status. I don't think the gang is going to get back together with a burning desire to bring him back (again), somehow.

Basing a lot off the delivery of one line of dialogue I know, but it certainly sounds as though Spiner is playing a Soong rather than Data. Though I suppose there could be flashbacks?

Probably already covered but surely Spiner isn't going to play, well, anybody? He's said he's too old to play Data which presumably means any android that looks like him. Maybe they spent half the budget on de-aging him.

I'm not really. Data was intended to be brought back through B4 in a movie after Nemesis (which seem to have major elements of TWOK), and B4 would have held Data's "Katra". I had been hoping they would have done that on Picard, and just left Data on Coppelius to help guide them. I don't think that we would need to see Brent Spiner again in Trek, just an occasional on-camera mention.

*There - I got that out of my system (somewhat)..........LOL

Brent Spiner will play a Soong. Probably Altan. That's what they do in Picard. Get with the program, people. ;)

It was sooooo fitting that Lea Thompson was in an episode where Brent Spiner plays another Soong Ancestor. They've been given the Official Back to the Future Seal of Approval.

Yo! Let's talk about how this is going to play out.
Picard and TNG crew aboard the Enterprise E or F team up with Rios and crew aboard the Stargazer for an incredible adventure. End of the season, Stargazer is destroyed and Rios and Co get the E.

It's a passing of the torch.

Cue haters' heads exploding.

We will get 4-5 season of SNW and then we'll get a Kirk and crew on the 2nd five year mission on the NCC-1701 (no bloody a,b,c or xyz).

Everything we are seeing is a passing of the torch.

I thought that happened with the Kelvin films?

WOuld that be a proper send off like we had in "These Are The Voyages."?
Not just an executive assistant. He had story credit on two episodes of Season 3: Stratagem (largely forgetabble Xindi arcwork) and Impulse (the "Vulcan zombie" episode - and a highlight of the third season).
Not only is Enterprise my least favorite Star Trek series, I don't even think about it unless someone else brings it up. It's the Star Trek show I tend to forget.

So I wasn't even thinking about any of this stuff until you guys brought it up. But, now that I actually am thinking about it, Terry Matalas has sure stepped up his game since the early-2000s. It's good to know that he's grown.

I'm enjoying the Hell out of Season 2 and thus expect it will be a similar situation with Season 3. Is his idea of Picard different from Chabon's? Yes. But I like it just as much for different reasons.

He was off by a hair. The next TNG movie after Nemesis would've been a Mega TNG/DS9/VOY Movie. I'll look up a source for it later.

I have to wonder if Terry Matalas wants to bring this type of idea to life, except with it pared to the TNG Cast, PIC Cast, and only some from DS9 and VOY.

"Some" being Seven and Worf (if you count his time on DS9).

I don't think of Worf as a DS9 Character. I think of Worf as a TNG Character that DS9 borrowed.

It's the opposite of O'Brien, where I think of him as a DS9 Character who started off on TNG.

On one hand, I can get this, because Worf was on TNG for seven years, and DS9 for only four.

On the other hand, DS9 did a hell of a lot more with Worf than TNG ever did.

It's reminiscent of how Marvel introduced Sam Wilson as Captain America after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

He was also the showrunner of the show 12 Monkeys, which ran for 4 seasons from 2015-2018. I'm going through it now for the first time and have just about finished the first season and I'm enjoying it. It's about time travel :)
