Spoilers "Superman & Lois" Season 2

So do you need the pendant in order to cross between worlds? It seems that way. Bizarro-Superman had the pendant when he crossed over and Anderson had both pendants and it looks like he successfully crossed over to the Bizarro world but the other people in Allie's cult seemingly got disintegrated and died when they tried to cross over without a pendant. Did Allie know that the other people would die when they crossed over? And if so, why did send them to their deaths instead of just getting the pendant and crossing over by herself?

She did act surprised and say it wasn't supposed to happen this way. I doubt she would've done that if she'd been performing for her cult; she would've assured them it was what was supposed to happen. So I don't think she knew that would be the result.

Thanks. That makes sense.

I dunno, I think it's interesting. Sarah sincerely just wants to be friends with Aubrey, and not let one past bit of weirdness get in the way of her relationship with her or Jordan. She needs a friend to talk to, given what's going on with her parents, and that's all she wants here. If Jordan gets stupidly jealous about it rather than understanding her need for support, he's just going to hurt her more and drive her away, in which case I'd be rooting for her and Aubrey.

I get the impression she likes Aubrey more and is staying with John because of obligation/not wanting to hurt him/not wanting to be like her dad, which isn't fair to her or John. She actually talks to Aubrey; I don't remember her and Johnathan doing that much this season.

I agree. If she can feel okay to talk with her about what she is feeling but not her boyfriend then it seems clear as to who she should be with. She kind of is doing just what her dad did but simply on a lower level of importance because of course high school romance vs marriage that also involves kids is whole level more serious.

The only John on this show is John Henry Irons. Sarah is dating Jordan Kent, while Jon Kent is dating Candice Pergande, the XK dealer.

And I don't read Sarah's behavior that way at all. She turned to Aubrey because she needs support after her parents separating. She needs a friend, that's all. If she and Aubrey end up more than that, it will only be if Jordan's jealousy keeps him from being there for Sarah, so that he drives her away and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Only? This presumes much. One—presumes Aubrey is without ulterior motives. Two—strips the two female characters of agency as the “only” way this hypothetical situation can arise is through the actions of another, male character. The first is unproven while the second is unfounded.

Thank you.

At this point, who can be so sure Aubrey does not have an interest in being with Sarah; after the incident at the camp, why would she just cut off her feelings, especially if she's not seeing Sarah and Jordan's relationship as being solid? Teenagers are just as guilty of pursuing their own interests (including breaking up other relationships) as adults are.

Further, Sarah might need someone to talk to (and she has reached out to her father), but the series continues to hint that there's more to her hanging around Aubrey, and now that Jordan had to bail on the meeting to hide his injuries, she might take that as his lack of support for her, despite the fact he's been attentive more often than not.

Am I the only one growing tired of the Lana/Kyle storyline? Its subplot is so detached from the main story, and you rarely see Lana or Kyle interacting with any other cast members that it feels like we switch to an entirely different show when they come on.

It's actually one of the only parts of the season that I'm enjoying in the least. I mean, Sarah's parents separating feels like it would fit right in with the excessively grim and depressing turn the season has taken, but I like how Kyle is genuinely trying to make amends for his mistakes and I feel hopeful that he and Lana will work it out.

Has it ever been revisited that the woman Kyle had the affair with said he was thinking of leaving Lana. That was in the conversation Sarah over heard. Ever since he was exposed Kyle’s apologizes are built on their relationship being an arbitrary mistake. But that suggests he really loved her and was at least considering leaving his family for her.

Two years ago, when he was in the throes of alcoholism. But he's gotten cleaned up and is working to make amends for his past mistakes. Sarah only overheard fragments of the conversation and jumped to conclusions. The bartender wasn't there to rekindle anything, she was just there to warn Kyle that Mayor Dean planned to use their past affair against Lana in the election.

I've seen this kind of "detachment" in a number of TV shows across all kinds of genres. I suspect, at least in part, this kind of thing is a consequence of COVID protocols and minimizing contacts whenever and wherever possible--particularly in shows filmed in Canada, where restrictions have been (and continue) in the aggregate considerably tighter than south of the border. Doesn't explain all such instances, but I think it's a fairly significant factor at play.

Well Picard Season 2, most of the cast is split into pairs because of COVID, but it was shot last year, maybe things have changed.

As a former journo, I loved the journalism in the first season. This season not so much.

Why is neither Lois or Chrissy covering the real story in Smallville—the mayoral race? Community papers live and die by the local politics.

Why is the cult story so much more important to a community paper than the mayorial race? Just because of the podcast calling into question Lois' journalistic integrity? I can see pursuing it but not just completely sidling the local politics.

Also Chrissy getting into bed, so to speak, with Alley just to get a story irks the living fuck outta this reporter. The woman drugged her without consent. Why isn't she pressing charges? Just to continue getting the scoop? Sorry this doesn't wash at all with me.

The cult thing had potential but I'm not feeling it. That being said, I love this show a lot. And the way it handles the journalism is spades ahead of anything SUPERGIRL ever did.

Interesting perspective, thanks. Those are good criticisms I hadn't considered before. Come to think of it, I thought I read a quote from a producer saying that Clark would get involved at the newspaper this season, but that hasn't happened.

TV really needs to dial back on the serialization. The Flash this week showed how you can do an excellent one-and-done standalone episode that still builds on past continuity and hints at a larger story arc. I would like to see this show just tell episodic stories about the Kents trying to balance small-town life with Superman's global responsibilities, with the serialization coming in the character arcs like the kids' relationships at school or Natalie's adjustment to Earth-Prime.

I’m 100 percent with you on dialing back the serialization. I miss smaller stories. And I, too, would like to see arcs more character-based than mystery box-based. I like your idea of balancing small town life with Superman’s global responsibilities. There’s a lot of story gold there.

That has always been my main problem with the serialization of these shows. The characters and their personalities almost always get lost to maintain the over complicated plots. Television series have always been driven by the characters. Audiences tuning in each week because they are likable or at least interesting. But if our memories are more about the plot of the current season. It’s much easier to tune out.

Plus, as I've said before, I think Ian Bohen's a good actor who deserves a richer, more multilayered character to play. I don't want his character to be boring, but that's how Anderson's turning out, because he's only got one mode.
You should really check out Teen Wolf, Bohen was great in that.

Probably not, since the leaked photo has him being what appears to be Teen Superman, so his issues might end quicker than expected.
Actually that wasn't a Teen Superman look, it was taken from the '90s Superboy, who is a different character from the young Superman version of Superboy.

I've noticed a lot of shows I watched have been doing that since the pandemic. It's pretty rare to see more than two or three characters together these days.

I finally got caught up and I thought this last one was pretty good.
I thought maybe Lucy was telling the truth when she showed up, but was not surprised it was a lie. It will be interesting to see what they do with her when all of this is done, at this point it's starting to look like she's going to far for everything to just be forgiven and forgotten.
It was pretty cool getting to see Jordan go full Superboy on the guy that was after Candace.
I'm not quite sure what to make of Sarah continuing to hang out with Aubrey. I can understand wanting to have a friend who understands what she's going through, but hanging out with the girl who kissed her just seems to be asking for trouble.
I kind of admire Jonathan for being loyal to Candace, but I still wonder if their relationship is really worth ruining his entire life over.
I do kind of feel sorry for Natalie, she found herself dumped into a very weird situation.
