Superman and Lois
Season 2 - Episode 8 - "Into Oblivion"
Clark/SM / Irons /Natalie: There was no way Irons was going to come out of the hospital without an issue of some kind--such as believing Lois was his wife. While it's understandable Natalie is upset with Clark, it was a breath of fresh air to see her admit she knew Clark was not the man from her world instead of holding on to a grudge (unless Iron's head injury is worse than anyone thought).
Lois warning Clark against carrying his anger with Johnathan on for too long hit the right beat, but one can see Jonathan getting back to Clark's good graces once he becomes some sort of superboy (in reference to that leaked set photo).
Anderson / Ally: "We can finally ascend" blah, blah, blah. (SEE NOTES). Chrissy has a certain amount of plot armor, so there was no feeling she was ever going to be harmed. With Anderson--hyped up on the drug--and betraying Ally, it would not be a stretch to imagine he's crossing over to create or recruit his own enhanced army to confront SM...and unfortunately, his brother.
Sam was so easily played by Ally. He should have realized a manipulator would attempt to exploit his feelings for Lucy. Perhaps if he threatened her with Gitmo-styled interrogation tactics she would drop the arrogant behavior.
Speaking of Lucy, her act was so predictable, and since she's a full-on cult member with no qualms about hurting her own father, one would think her arc will not end with a "sorry--I was wrong" / "I need to leave to find myself", but her facing the consequences of aiding a global threat....
Jordan / Jonathan: Still protecting Candace, I see. Now that Candace is being threatened by Micky (her supplier) you just knew that Jonathan would try to protect her, but it was nice surprise to see Jordan step in to save him, only his skin is very susceptible to regular human injury--unlike his father. Johnathan thanked his brother, but that parting look had "I'm inadequate" all over it, though not directed at his brother.
Jordan/Sarah: Okay, Jordan helping his brother preventing him keeping his date with Sarah and Aubrey was expected, but Sarah's disappointment...we will see where that goes, and if Jordan will develop some resentment about his powers causing more problems than they're worth (for the sake of his personal life).
Lana/Kyle/Sarah: At least Sarah is still interested in the idea of Kyle being in her life. The way Kyle helped Sarah with debate prep was a nice, mature moment.
NOTES:
The Ally plot is just a bore. Cult leader stories usually go in one direction (at the end of it all), and I hope it races in that direction ASAP.
Next week, SM disappears, and Lois believes her sons are trying to act like adults. Hm.
GRADE: B-.
