DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

I actually looking forward to Black Adam the most this year. The Rock and Pierce Brosnan in one movie? That can’t be bad.

Same, though also because I'm oddly one of the few people on earth that seems to love Hawkman and am hoping for a good showing there.

Much is made about original release date of The Flash. But think all the stuff in that time - DC and from other studios, that are announced and are in endless development hell and might never get made. Some outright cancelled.

I think part of the issue is the never ending comparison with Marvel. Look at their slate versus Sony, Fox and WB from that same time. What they announced they stuck to (even Inhumans, though that obviously went sideways). Everyone else bungled it big time, for various reasons not always in their control.

I think the biggest misstep by the MCU is the decanonization of agents of shield and the inhumans storyline.

I agree. Those versions make a great trilogy.

Looks like The Batman will be the last D.C movie I go see this year.

I am actually still quite excited about the Flash.

I couldn't possibly disagree more, but I do agree that Cavil still deserves a shot.

That's what's so awesome about many versions and takes on some of these characters. People keep saying 'this is not Superman/Batman/Flash/Aquaman/Wonder Woman/fill in character. There have been so many takes on these characters in the comics, why should the movies be any different?

Seems people just seem to say that about Superman, though, at least, most audibly. There's always naysayers for any casting, but years down the road, people seem fine with most of the other characters except to this day Snyder's Superman.

Honestly? Depends on who you hang around with and talk to.
As humans, we tend to hang out with people we have a common ground with. Most of the superhero/comic fans I'm close with LOVE Cavill's and Snyder's take on Superman.

Oh, absolutely, I see that. I'm saying in general, if you search for negative things about any of the portrayals, the majority is on Superman, very few if any on the other listed characters.

I read "This is not Superman" 100 times for every "This is not Flash" (which I honestly doubt I've ever read).

I see what you mean. I suppopse people might hold the Man Of Steel to a higher standard, maybe?

MoS/BvSUlitmate/SnyderCut has some of the best Superman stuff out there. I really enjoyed Cavill's take on both Superman and Clark Kent. I would love a new standalone with his version.

Without a doubt. Cavill's Superman was the far and away best version of this era, and easily one of the top two live action Superman portrayals. ...and yes he deserves a sequel. I believed Cavill did have one additional film in his contract, so that would be a chance to see another great chapter in the DCEU.

It's still canon as far as I'm concerned.

For myself and most of those I've heard from/read, casting was never the issue.

Never gonna happen.
In an interview I read a couple weeks ago, Matt Reeves, the director & co-writer of The Batman, was asked about Superman, and he didn't totally rule it out. He said they would just need to find a way to make their Superman fit in the more grounded world they've created.

I saw that. I view it as a polite answer in the vein of “never say never” but with no serious consideration of the idea. YMMV

Me too, but its release has been moved to next year.

Ah crap.... :(

And from what I understood, Cavill himself isn't against it either. I also get the feeling that there's a big enough crowd for it.

They've got a year to change it if they want to. With this Discovery merger there will be a shake up which will likely impact DC movies going forward, hopefully for the better.
