I'm seeing complaints already that Picard shouldn't have bled because he's a synth.
Then those people have not been paying attention. Picard is not a robot, or even an Android like Data, he is synthetic. The "golem" was designed to function just like a normal organic body. Except rather than being composed of organic components, it's composed of synthetic components, much like his "real" body's heart. A clone in all but name. Therefore, his body functions like any organic body would.

Even if he hadn't specifically requested not to have any "superpowers" or immortality, his body would still function like an organic body. A heart that pumps blood, or something very similar, throughout his body. A digestive system that delivers necessary nutrients. He obviously still consumes food and has taste buds. I'm sure his new body disposes of what it consumes in a manner similar to his organic body. If Picard's consciousness had been transferred to an entirely cloned body, we wouldn't be having this discussion, but it's essentially the same thing.

I know it's asking a lot, but I would love to see Avery Brooks do a cameo, even for a few moments.
He doesn't strike me as the type of actor who would do cameos.

I agree it would be awesome if he did, but I doubt he'd be up for it.

On a completely unrelated matter: The "World Razer"? Really? :guffaw:

I mean, I almost thought the Confederation was actually kind of cool, and then they go and do that. Oh well, alternate Earth empires never do subtle, do they?

That said, I hope Alton Soong never finds out that
his ancestor was apparently involved in forming the Confederation in the first place
. I imagine he'd be rather embarrassed...

True, but I'd still like to see him.

Yeah, "World Razer" is a bit cringe, but hey, when you're murdering people I guess you can be a little cringe. :P

It rhymes with Stargazer. That's probably what they were going with.
Most likely, still feels a bit too edgy, though, like in 1996 when people were making their AIM handles, and it was like "darklordxxx666xxx" which I bet still exists today.

As for the 2024 material, I'm sure we'll be in the thick of some sort of conflict with Russia in the real 2024 (I hope not, but the way it looks right now... ). As long as PIC Season 2 doesn't focus on the Russian angle, hopefully it won't become dated almost immediately. That's the one Achille's Heel.
not going to happen. This was filmed before the current crisis.

And you think that's going to work out well?

Remember the story about the scorpion?
I’m sure the queen has plans that, let’s say, differs slightly from our heroes.

it already looked like a razor anyway!

In President Annika's computer it mentions that the Confederation is prepared to use a Metreon Cascade on Vulcan. Does this mean General Janeway went on a rampage through the Delta Quadrant and brought back all kinds of terrifying technology of mass destruction? In that case does it mean she's the one that defeated the Borg? Shouldn't she be the one aiming the phaser at the Queen on Extermination Day?

With the year they chose I’m sure there’ll be a mention, but it’s worth noting they’re not in the same city. The Bell Riots were in San Francisco, and the divergence they’re looking for is in Los Angeles.
They could be without difficulty. Past Tense was filmed out on Paramount's Backlot, right in the middle of Los Angeles.

I liked it, but liked the premier better. A strong 7, maybe should have been an 8.

I liked DISCO better at first blush. But after thinking about it, DISCO had a lot more plotholes than Picard. Though the Arrival stuff was VERY good.

However, Pucard was a bit more scattered, as everyone had their own moment of disorientation.

Still, very excited on where they go from here. Thought it would have been grittier if someone had to actually do evil rather than fake being evil. Well, besides Elnor chopping up some dudes and Raffi not caring at all.

No, no, no, what I mean is hopefully they don't have something in there that would be dated right now and also dated when we get to the actual 2024.

I don't think what's going on right now will de-escalate and, if it changes, it'll get worse. I'd love to be wrong, mind you. This is one Internet Argument I don't want to win.
