I had a weird theory about Discovery

The Talosians are as alien as they need to be.

Introducing pointless gimmicks like using female voices and male actors - THAT is what's missing the point. It was a gimmick back then, it's even more of a gimmick now.

You're entitled to your opinion. I felt that if the producers were going to recreate characters from 'The Cage,' that they at least try to recreate what made them unique in the first place. That, I feel they didn't do. The Talosians were just another alien race, and Vina was just some other woman with the same name, and had very little in common with the character as played by Susan Oliver. Of course, that's exactly how I feel about DSC's Sarek and Spock, too.
