I don't know about Alison Pill, but there's no evidence that Cabrera is working on another project currently - he did a guest stint on The Flight Attendant, but social media posts indicate he wasn't on that set for long and finished there quite a while back, so it could have been fitted in during a break from Picard. But on the other hand, there have been recent pics on social media showing that he definitely no longer has the Rios hair and beard, and hasn't done for some time. And while I agree with Danja that it seems strange for a show to establish a strong core cast and then discard half of them along the way, not all of the regulars were in every episode of season one, so there's also precedent there for being flexible with the cast. As for the Discovery model, yes characters have come and gone there, but not the core cast, that's always stayed stable. Here, Cabrera was the first actor signed for Picard after Stewart, before any scripts were written, the character of Rios was specifically designed for him, while Soji was hugely important both to the central plot of season and to Picard's character, she was designed to take Data's legacy forward into a new generation, so it seems strange to think that either one could be discarded from the show now, to take just those two as examples. Especially when you would think that the franchise as a whole would want to build up a strong core of new characters to take forward into the 25th century era. But there have been a few changes of showrunner along the way, and we've no way of knowing yet what direction the S2 storyline is going to take the show. And the show is so intensely focused on Picard as its central figure, everyone else has been very much overshadowed, making it hard for any of the new characters to really get fully established. So it is all very much up in the air!
