Happy 29th anniversary! DS9 debuted January 3, 1993.

Such a great show. I can't believe it's been 29 years already. I feel like I was excited to watch "The Emissary" just yesterday.

Twenty nine years of the best father and son on TV.

Oh wow, seems like next year's going to be the big 30th anniversary.

They still have time to pull out the film reels and get to work on the HD remaster! Season 1 doesn't have much CGI, they could get it done by this time next year, ready for a big announcement. Make DS9 HD the big new Star Trek show for 2023.

Or they could do absolutely nothing for it, which seems a lot more likely sadly.

Anyway, happy birthday Deep Space Nine!

I'm not really fond of Season 7 and some of Season 6 but I have a soft spot for DS9 and especially Season 2 because that was when I really became a fan and was the last time I didn't have some hint of what was going to come in Star Trek. You get hints about everything and it's hard to avoid spoilers but back then I really enjoyed tuning in each week not knowing what was going to happen. I like the introduction of the Maquis, the subtle crossovers with TNG, the expansion of the main and secondary characters and introduction of the Dominion. I think Season 1 was quite good with stuff like If Wishes Were Horses, Progress, Duet and In the Hands of the Prophets. I do think it's best seasons, and for me the best seasons of Trek, were 3 to 5 and I loved it's semi-serialised use of continuity there, where each episode's major story was wrapped up but a lot of time was built on threads that started episodes or seasons ago. I always point to Ties of Blood and Water, how it's a sequel to at least Second Skin, Shakaar, The Darkness and the Light, By Inferno's Light and To The Death, if not more. At this point it's the series I've watched the most of, only missing Dramatis Personae, Shadowplay and half of The Siege of AR-558.

Agreed, I really don't like most of season 6-7, but the early years of DS9 hit a nostalgia spot.

Just one year, sounds like an awfully tight schedule to me, even if they already had the go ahead to start spending money. I want them to do it good, not fast.
