What games are you playing currently?

Prince of Persia (2008). I've had the disk for ages, but it ran really choppy on previous notebook computers I owned. Now I can finally play it!

Played that one earlier this year. Loved the art style, and so wish they'd have continued along those lines. Sadly, that was the end of the franchise.

Oopsie...... I thought this was a side scroller...... Is this the 3D one where you can run in any direction?
I never got around to do doing much of it, Wasn't this a movie tie in game?

This is in 3D. It was from a couple years before the Disney film, though.

Before that, there was "Prince of Persia 3D" in 1999, and then "PoP: The Sands of Time" in 2003. Apparently that one inspired the 2010 movie. There was also the game "PoP: Warrior Within" in 2004 which was a sequel to SoT, and a third installment "PoP: The Two Thrones" in 2005. And "PoP Classic" in 2007, which remade the original game in the 3D style of SoT. And there were some other games for portable systems, too. And also "PoP: The Forgotten Sands" which goes back to the SoT continuity and was released in 2010 around the time of the movie.

Yeah, exactly, although I do think the movie did take several stylings from this particular game. What sets the 2008 game from the others is its cel-shaded art style. And playing it fully upscaled on a modern PC was beautiful.

Ah, Prince Of Persia Sands Of Time, that's the one I have. I haven't played it much at all. I did read a lot of rather scathing reviews of it but from the little I did play it seemed fun, just could never motivate myself to keep playing as the setting while very nice and good graphics really didn't excite me all that much.

I just got Stellaris..... Ooh I'm hoping this will be fun

OK I'm doing Stellaris, is there any way to automate the camera so that it follows your ships when you set them to travel, or automate combat? I have 1 hostile fleet in the Sol system from some temple thingy but no idea how to attack them?

OK this is bugging me a little.

This ship is in the middle of the Sol system and I can't shoot it or do anything with it but it's listed as hostile. So not sure what to do.

Also if you get an alert on screen about war how do you jump over to that to see it? I missed a minor scuffle that seemed to happen and couldn't find it on the map.

@Crazyewok can you help?

Tried Witcher 2 game and it couldn't feel any less clunky if it tried. It also has one of the worst tutorials I've ever come across that missed out important information that I had to google. Between this and Cyberpunk, I really don't get why CD Project has any hype about it.

The Witcher 3 is better then the previous 2 hands down.
Cyberpunk is OK but geez what a mess it was when it launched. It's ok but nothing great.

Got the 3rd game GOTY for £6 on steam Sale - so will try that next. My friends rave about the game but as I get older I do struggle to play these massive open world games.

Had to put Star Citizen on hiatus until they fix the new Easy Anti-cheat problem that keeps Linux users from playing.

Until then, I availed myself of the GOG sale, and now I'm playing Bridge Commander. :D

You would have no hope with the first game. That one was even clunkier and harder to figure out in terms of questing.

I had that one on disk and never bothered with it after the first mission. Just was terrible in every way. the third game however was much more fun.

Yeah, I don't blame you. Both the second and 3rd games were so much of a leap compared to the first game. Hated the combat in that game. I had to constantly use a walkthrough just to figure out the questing, because it simply wasn't very logical, both in what you needed to do and where you needed to go. It also felt very disjointed in its questing. The quest log was also very cryptic.

Just finished Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. It's definitely like playing through a movie in terms of story, dialogue, music and so on. There's probably legit double the amount of actual classic 80s songs than the movie soundtracks. I could see where some might be like "c'mon just let me play" with all the dialogue and cut scenes but if you like the movies and like that kind of thing this is a good choice.

Wasn't nuts about the combat mechanics but it gets better as more options open up later on even if I get a little lost with all the squad management (and those healer guys suck!). I played on a PS5 and am not sure how well it would work on one of the earlier gen systems as this thing throws a lot on the screen at once.

Same experience, though it scared me off of trying the others.

Oh, absolutely. I still haven't gone back to W1. I'd heard good things about 3 so got that (a while after so it had all the patches) and enjoyed it very much. I've since gone back to W2 and for me at least that's good so far.

Further attempts at the first still find me having issues getting anywhere.

When I played Witcher 2 when it came out, I remember there being a 5 on 1 battle at the start where the only viable strategy was to run away until one of the enemies separated from the pack then take them 1 on 1. I'm sure it got better from there but that battle left such a bad taste in my mouth I didn't get back to it.

Yeah, nowadays, you can safely skip it. Ironically, even after the remastered edition, it still was pretty poor. Made me wish for the Devs to completely remake it with Witcher 3's engine and also port it to consoles.

I've been meaning to give Shenmue a try for many years. Steam has the first two games bundled together, often on sale for dirt cheap. And the multipack including those along with the third one and additional modules is available at a good price, too. The thing that keeps holding me back is the whopping 30 GB of required disc space for 1 and 2!

They're good games, if clunky. Although get ready for plenty of QTEs, especially in the second game. The QTEs in the first game were not too bad, but the second game is quite heavy on their usage.
