The other Trek crews I got it when they went to hell and back for each other, especially TOS, TNG, and DS9
For us the viewer, the crews you mention have 50+ YEARS and hundreds of Episodes & Movies we can relate to.

DISCOVERY's got what 50+ Episodes so far over 4.5 years.
Perhaps it would be best to hold off for awhile in comparing the two as being in any way equal.

I felt that we got more of that development, definitely by the fourth season of almost all the other Trek series. ENT was the laggard in that regard for Berman Trek, though I do think we got a lot more character moments big and small for the crew overall.

DISCO is just as equal to be judged in four seasons as other Trek series were, and definitely by their respective fourth seasons. Lower Decks Season 1 had more crew character development than comparatively four seasons of DISCO.

A Very Disco Christmas,

More fair points. Perhaps its a matter of perception, though the little glances and things you mentioned also could be the actors filling in the development/character moments that are lacking in the scripts.

We're four seasons into this show and we've seen this crew go through hell together on numerous occasions. We see their bond in every episode. If that's not enough for you to get why these people care about each other enough to sacrifice for each other, then I don't even know what to say. You're fundamentally missing an important part of the series.

But that misses the point. Humans communicate beyond scripts. Taking in little nods, glances and facial expressions are all a part of character moments and shouldn't be dismissed out of hand as to why the crew has a genuine connection. They have connected over several shared traumas? How is that less than the other crews just because we don't know every detail about the bridge crew members? I am trying to fathom this concept but I'll freely admit to struggling as to excusing one and dismissing the other. :wtf:

It all follows a central theme, too.

This episode talks about coping with loss, about heading into unknown territory, and unable to see ahead of you. It addresses the fear that the same specter of death that took your loved one may be waiting there for you, but you have to keep moving, because if you don't keep moving, you will die anyway as the fear of death will eat you alive, because in the end, death comes for us all.

Instead, focusing on something other than the pain, the confusion, the sensory overload itself, by becoming aware of what is happening around you, that can help you handle the path ahead.

The whole episode is allegorical. It hits home for me, and so I felt this episode a little more deeply than I have previous episodes. It was very well done, if you're looking at it from a specific point of view.

They held hands before going into the pattern buffer. If that doesn’t convince everyone of this crews unshakable bond I don’t know what will.
I don't think it's a matter of convincing but needing a logical rationale. Which doesn't always fit with people who have a shared traumatic experience (or 3) like this crew has had. To quote another show "They are all each other has." That's been the experience multiple times.

"We are all we have" has been a recurring theme in my own life, with my own family. It works here.

We don't know from where the bluegills hail from, in canon. They could also be extragalactic.

We don't know, but "Remmick" was sending a signal to a location within our galaxy.

Please explain what you think a dystopia actually is, because if this sentence is any indication, it does not mean what you think it means.

Or it was a joke you're taking way too literally...

Sorry it was lovely singing. Agreed. Just a stupid ridiculous plot point.
It was an act of comfort while Zora was starting to understand empathy. Also it foreshadows her eventual love of old movies. Stormy Weather was a very important film (yes, the song is a standard and predates it by more then 10 years, but it's probably most famous now for Lena Horne's rendition in the film) , and going into that would be off topic, but I figure the idea computes.

Sorry I probably took you too seriously first time round
Well, it was tongue in cheek, though I genuinely would like to see the two of them together, because they are adorable. The little smiles and other body language they share between one another is just too cute to ignore.

Anyway, all of that aside, this is definitely my favorite episode of the season. It just hit all of the right notes for me.

i wonder if they throw just enough information for the bridge crew to keep the compelling for the imaginations of the audience. It's a good idea, really.

I would imagine there should be quite a few romantic relationships on board, by species that are into that kind of thing. These people were already isolated due to the secretive nature of their work before they left home. It might have made it easier to decide to leave into the future. Once in the future, you're really even more isolated, an immigrant community of a single ship. No wonder the crew desperately did not want to be split up by Vance.
