Funny with all those cures, people on TOS and onward still faced mental health challenges stemming from tragedy, death and loss. They even have psychiatrists, psychologists and counselors to help people. Just like us poor slobs in the 21st Century
Great Book episode. I'm with Book wanting Stamets to stop talking. Stamets needs to learn how to give people space. This is a problem he had back in the second season as well, not being able to give Culber space when Culber need to be left alone; so good character continuity.
Like the holo-projector in Burnham's quarters. Shout-out to the computer being called Zora!
It's great that Gray can become visible, so Adira doesn't look like they're talking to an imaginary friend, and I don't have a problem with Gray being put into a Golem Body like Picard, but it feels like the DSC writers are stepping on the PIC writers' toes by saying golem tech never took off. I hope the DSC writers talked to the PIC writers before deciding this. But, at the same time, I understand why that tech couldn't take off. Death needs to count for something and it can't if everyone can just be brought back... and I love how they made Gray feel bad about becoming corporeal again, after what happened to Kwejian.
Glad to see Saru back. Ummm... I think the reason he's being a First Officer is pretty weak, but I like Saru being XO better than Tilly being XO, so I'll let it slide. Whatever works.
Great Book episode. That needs to be said twice.
I don't know. I'll probably give this episode an 8 and the last one a 7. "Last week, you said the fourth season could be the best, but you only give the premiere a 7?" Yeah. I was thinking on a season-level, not an episode-level. On an episode-level, the last episode was good but not spectacular. This week's episode, though, it did what it really needed to do.
I haven't read through the previous pages (I'm not interested in reading about why I'm supposed to hate this), but I'm pretty sure no else has mentioned this, so I will. This anomaly kind of reminds me of the cloud from "Obsession" (TOS). It's not a person, but it might be intelligent since it's not operating in ways that can be predicted.
EDITED TO ADD: And as I predicted, we only saw the Ferengi on-screen for like a few seconds. This is where I get to say, "I told you so!"

I guess this means DSC will eventually have her 32nd century updates removed so that she looks like she did in "Calypso(SHO)" or Zora and the ship's AI now exist in a completely different timeline from the events seen in "Calypso."
I think we should just ignore Calypso. That was written by the old creative team who have long left. Just see it as a what-if story.
I'm going with Discovery will be able to have programmable matter like Book's ship. The ship will transform itself to look like its 23rd Century counterpart, but it will only look like it. Which will also explain why Zora is still onboard and holoprojectors are still in place, even though hidden.
Tell that to Bryce, who was the MVP this week.
Good god, the episode was full of round robin participation and crew contributions.
I think they worked out how it would play out with the Picard creative team, based on something Kurtzman said about the shows working together in a quote from a Variety article released in April.

By which you mean the very small number of people who either refused or were unable to actually get treatment because they were stuck at the front lines of a war?
Like, I get what you're trying to do here. But you shouldn't try and make mental health some sort of mystical thing, instead of the very real physical issue that we treat the way we do in real life because in most cases our medical technology isn't really up to par with treating it any other way.
Was there no Ready Room episode this week?
Bryce is the one who came up with what they should do. Without his suggestion, none of what followed in the episode would've happened. That makes him MVP. While we're at it, Burnham wanted Detmer to pilot. Book had to fight to go.
Bryce's idea, Book's desire to want to go, Saru's suggestion to Burnham that she should let Book go, Stamets helping Book out.
So the anomaly is the space vagina from Spock's TMP walkabout?
Bryce is great.
They only seem to be doing them with premiers and finales.
Which seems odd considering they just built a whole net set for the show.
It was fine. Gets a solid 7 from me.

probably a budget thing but I’m surprised no Trek had done the mass gravity loss thing before.
I kinda, really hate the use of “Number One” instead of “first officer”, “XO”, etc…
interesting Picard and Soong reference.
Booker and Burnham are really great together. I liked how he called her out for wanting to stop him from going when she’d be doing the same thing in his spot.
We’re those Earth reps at the council of Elrond at the beginning? Would be nice if Earth is on speaking terms with the Federation again.

Ugh, what a dull episode outside a few tense moments in the anomaly. It's like they tried cramming in the tedious elements into this episode. I gave it a 6. Quite a let down from the season premiere.
Hopefully, with those things out of the way, the series will improve going forward.

I think the anomaly is V'ger. There is a very subtle V'ger sound effect when they first jump in near it.
