If you're going to adapt Mass Effect then a streaming series is the way to go. I hope it's good.

I'd hope for a completely new ending. The biggest issue I have with the current endings is that there's no way to get a truly satisfying conclusion. If you look at something like Uncharted 4, the ending is such a nice way to say goodbye to the characters and it leaves everything on a high note.

Some people have this idea that happy endings are lazy, but I only think that's true if the characters don't have to work for it. My feeling is that if you have a character like Shepard who has been through so much and struggled for so long to beat the Reapers, then they deserve a happy ending. Unless you're a player who shot Mordin.

If the show is adapting the games, whatever they go with will probably be whatever choice is made based on the upcoming game being developed by BioWare.

Red is the only one that really made any sense. Refuse, too, if you prefer total downer endings.

I like Synthesis and Control.... Both of those would be neat too, further adventures with good reapers now that Shepard is in control and the only way for that to go wonky is if Shepard goes wonky.

Destroy is the canon ending to me. That’s where Shepard survives.

I don't mind the Destroy ending, most people like that one, but I just like the other two a little more, depending on my mood.

    Why?

To quote Qui-Gon Jinn, "This is not a good idea".

Mass Effect has a rich world and narrative, yes, but it doesn't have a protagonist around which to center that narrative. Cmdr Shepard is nothing more than an avatar for players through which they (players) experience the story, and you can't successfully build a film or TV series around an avatar because who that avatar is and the story they're participating in doesn't exist independently of players' decisions and choices.

If you take a particular avatar of Cmdr Shepard and make them the 'default' for a film or TV series, you're automatically alienating people because you're cementing said avatar's story as the story and changing the entire rai·son d'ê·tre of the property and its appeal.

It's not really about which ones we do or do not like, it's about which lend themselves best to further storytelling. Control and Synthesis are both stagnant dystopias, and thus narrative dead-ends, or just can't really accommodate the kind of storytelling necessary for an RPG setting.

Which means that "High EMS Destroy" is the only real viable option; The Reapers are off the board, the status quo of the galaxy is up-ended but the major factions are still recognisable and in play, with some room for newcomers to show up. Both the galactic infrastructure being shattered, and the mass displacement of peoples from all species across all of known space means there will be a new massive wave of exploration and colonisation away from the old relay network, followed by a new network gradually built in it's place as the new frontier expands into uncharted clusters. The surviving Leviathan are an open question, but they need not be the next antagonists. They've proven to be more than willing to play the long game and could just decided to remain in the shadows for a few million years until things settle down and they can gradually make their moves to return to power.

Sorry for the double post, but it didn't seem worth starting a new thread for this, and it does have tangential relevance to the ME franchise and it's next instalment; Dragon Age's Senior Creative Director Has Left BioWare
This is getting to be something of a worrying trend, no?

Not really news exactly so much as an oddity: but as you can see above, for some reason, and at some point between when I posted this and about a week and a half ago when someone on reddit noticed it's absence, the ME5 teaser has been removed from their official youtube channel (still present on their twitter though.)
Could mean something, but probably not. Still . . . kinda weird.

That does beg the question: why did they need to re-upload it at all? Maybe there was some clearance or licencing issue with the music?

Yeap, most likely. The trailer features various real life historic space and pop culture audio bits.

I finished Noveria last night. They must have nerfed the boss battle a lot, because I remember having to frantically run from corner to corner to survive whereas in this it was just three waves of regular fights.

I like some of the ways the combat was streamlined, but I hate it when they nerf the original difficulty.

Haven't played the LE version, but from what I recall the main difficulty of that fight stemmed from poor level design mixed with dumb AI pathing, and that aggravating stun-lock from certain biotic attacks. All of which meant you had to run around like a loon as enemies suicidality ran right at you, throwing pushes and overloads all the live long day.
So this sounds less like a neft and more like they fixed something that was literally broken.
