Dreamcatcher brings on shades of Chakotay, who despite being descended from indigenous Central American tribes, for some reason kept a dreamcatcher around, which is more of a First Nations of Canada thing. But, hey, my mom liked them too. To each their own, I guess.

Plus dreamcatchers are for kids.

The moral of the week by Kate Mulgrew

=D

Enjoy!

Plus dreamcatchers are for kids.

Well, like I said, my white mother collected dreamcatchers, and other Native American-related items, well after all of her kids were grown and gone. Her house was probably ten times more tacky than Jamake Highwater's.

But there was no Chakotay appearance or hint. "Dreamcatcher" had nothing to do with the Chippewa child's charm, but was just a more literal or poetic reference to the cilia lifeform in the episode.

I doubt the title is meant to evoke Chakotay. Given that next week is a semi-finale into the first hiatus, it seems that Chakotay and Starfleet will likely show up then, as a cliffhanger to hold us over.

FYI, the title is listed as "Dream Catcher" - 2 words. I think it's meant to refer to the planet using your dreams to catch you. :)

‪‪That’s kind of interesting, it comes up as a single word for me on my Paramount+ app, and was written that way in their press release from Monday, but like you say, the episode’s title card itself has a space separating the two words. It’s probably due to someone inputting the data’s machine/program having an overzealous/presumptuous autocorrect function!

best episode of the season so far.

But is it just me or do the episodes just fly by. I mean, LD episodes are about the same length but they dont feel like “blink and you’ll miss it”
it’s not just you. LDS has a very clever writing and between that and having everyone speak at 2x manages to cram 45 minutes episodes into 23.
