...Given we already got a giant Excelsior that wasn't an Excelsior, perhaps this Nova just plain isn't a Nova? The shape is vague, the surface detail differs from those of the two known Nova variants a bit, and then there is, well, the size issue.

It still looks shorter than the Cerritos' nacelles and doesn't appear to be anywhere near as large as the primary hull.
Also comparing it to the Oberth class off in the distance, would seem to indicate they are roughly the same size.
That's a great analysis. Sounds like that could be the way to go when adding the ship to STO and differentiating it from the Legendary Excelsior and Legendary Sovereign classes.

So if an Obena is a big work horse Sovereign and the Excelsior is a big work horse Constitution, where the Obena is a modern Excelsior and one could argue that the Sovereign is a modern Constitution moreso than a Galaxy... Then will we ever see a modern Galaxy inspired class (outside of STO)? Or would we have to wait for a new movie cycle for that haha.
Also, I feel l dumb for not noticing that it is Nova class (or at least Nova-curious) I guess the looking hugeness is threw me off. It must be a joke in itself that they make every ship either look too big or too small.

The Galaxy isn't an old design at this point, so I doubt they'd bother updating it yet. STO is 30 years on from this.
The Obena-class really looks like a Star Trek Online Excelsior upgrade to me. Remember the Constitution-class they had with Sovereign nacelles in all their late-2000's promo art?
I really hope they do. That was one of the most original solutions to a problem in Trek history, IMO, and should be commemorated as such with a physical model. I also loved how they sussed out the solution by asking all the other "whatabout" questions that fans would doubtless ask to poke holes in the contrived problem that could be easily technobabbled away. The solution was pure brute force and I loved it!
I just can't get over how cool it is that after decades of Trek this little animated comedy show is coming up with unique technical solutions they have never done before. Was also just a cool visual to almost see some of the inner workings of the starship. The art department on this show has outdone themselves with this one. Also the design of the asteroid field was spectacular. Still hoping for an artbook dedicated to the design of the show at some point.
Someone let them make it look all Sovereign-y? It's OK, some ships can look like that.
Is the California class in the background blue striped?
Something is making the rear, lower parts of the Archimedes glow. It might be whatever that is.
I seem to recall reading before the show even debuted that the striping on the California class was indicative of the ship's primary function, much like the color of the officer's uniform. So, a blue striped ship would be a science or medical ship?
Forgive me for what might be a stupid question, but this is this the first time we've seen a sovereign-class outside of a Next Generation movie?

From the angle in that pic I posted, it looks like an Inquiry class, albeit a small version.
I think that was forced perspective to place the Nova Class closer to the camera.
