Another featurette filled with new footage, behind-the-scene shots, interviews, and concept art: Honestly, this video ramped up my excitement even more than the final trailer. Holy fuck, I need this film now!
Well, I've actively loathed the Asimov stuff I've tried to read, he was a very boring writer and extremely overrated in my opinion. Same with bradbury, I couldn't be paid to read their stuff. The vast majority of Star Wars (Old) EU books I've read I really enjoyed and I'll still remember decades from now, even if I don't reread them. So, that is definitely subjective. That said, in my opinion the worst Stargate episode is still better written then anything fucking Asimov ever wrote, unless the judging criteria is the ability to put someone to sleep, then shit like Foundation is top of the category. Regardless, my point stands. She's insulting the stuff that is the only reason she's been able to have a career as an actor. The fact that I think she's also an idiot and completely wrong about the quality of the stuff aside, she's still biting the hand that fed her and it makes her look bad. But, we are talking about something she apparently said to someone else, not a public statement she made, so its more about how she's an ass as a person. She was apparently not stupid enough to make these comments herself publicly, so she is probably smart enough to know to keep her opinions on her work to herself.
Man, if I thought people would still be bringing that interview up a week and a half later and posting about it instead of the Dune movie in the Dune thread on the day a new Dune trailer dropped, I'd have never posted the damn thing. Live and learn.
It's nonsense. No reason to take it seriously. Moving on, I'm really liking Issacs' portrayal. Which will make viewing hard.
Man, I wish I could think of a clever Halloween name. I am having a complete block on it. Even my current user name is just my initials . I actually used to post on here as Mahdi 20 years ago because of Dune, before I found out it was a real religious term. #ignorantteenager
I started re-reading Dune tonight. Beautiful evening, sitting in my triplexes back yard. Couldn't find my folio edition - probably packed away in storage some where from my multiple moves. Bought the book at least 10 times, can't find them. Reading an EPUB version on my Kobo.
Most went to friends who never returned them. A couple were 2nd hand and fell apart. One I forgot in a hospital waiting room during one of my exes 40+ surgeries.
Updated the spoiler discussion & rating thread with current info, as well as the official synopsis and the trailers. Bumped it as well since it released in NYC as part of their film fest. https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/dune-2021-spoiler-rating-thread.308932/
A little late on this (because I only just got to watching it myself), but Denis Villeneuve was on Colbert a few nights ago: It's a lot fun watching the two of them fanboying over the novel.
