Ugh! Movie release date here in New Zealand has been pushed from Oct 21 to Dec 2nd!!!!!
There was a time that line up crossed over to mainstream audiences.
We used to have the saying in our house, "SciFi original series = good, SciFi original movie = BAD!"
There have been and are still good shows on SyFy, but it certainly isn't what it was.
Oh, duh, of course!
The only one that stands out is Eureka, which I'm surprised to see (because my memory is pure crap) that it started after the golden age of the channel. It was a great, lighthearted sci-fi show. Certainly not anything like Sharknado....
I really enjoyed Warehouse 13, too, from that same era.
I loved W13 and Eureka.
We also got the first couple season of The Expanse, Dark Matter, Killjoys, and Vagrant Queen, all of which I really enjoyed.
On the fantasy front I loved Wynonna Earp and The Magicians.
Oh yeah, I still need to finish Killjoys. Think I stalled out somewhere in the third season, but I generally enjoyed it.
Hans Zimmer gave IGN an interview about the score for Dune, nice read:
Great read. I particularly like how Zimmer worked closely with the sound department so they two of them could complement each other. Not enough films or television shows do that.
This is his passion project, just like it is Villeneuve's. I'm glad they have top tiered talent so passionate working on it.
Well it’s nice that so far the box office means part two is probably going to happen.
I wouldn't say so, not until the US numbers are in. Legendary is up for sale - they need this to be a hit if they're gonna spend money on the sequel. The execs are not gonna tank their valuation for a movie sequel, and the incoming team will have their own projects and not be wanting to continue other teams projects that they don't get credit for, not unless it's a big enough money maker they don't have a choice. The sales really complicate things.
At least Villeneuve is currently writing it so he's hopeful ( and so am i).
Dark Horse has a Paul statue up for pre order. $220 USD. I'll be passing.
EW.com has posted their cover story for the movie. Definitely liking what I'm reading.
I knew I liked you!
Marketing is in over drive now. Fortnite skins are out, red carpet is today, Twitter Movies account has been taken over by Dune this week (and is doing a q&a with cast right now).
Few more day.
I dunno about everyone else, but I’m really hankering for some Dune diecast Thropters, mining sand crawlers, etc!
I love me some vehicle toys!
Since it's a couple days before NA release press releases/interviews are, again, staying "The sequel will definitely happen!" and there will likely be an official "The sequel is greenlit!" announcement soon, I will, once more, remind everyone those are all purely meaningless PR blather designed to make people think the movie is so good the sequel was greenlit before the box office numbers are in, so they should all go see it.
They're just words. Part of the marketing campaign.
