I stayed at the Beverly Laurel Motor hotel of Robert Nepomucimo? for about 10 days in 1992 I think it was. I walked inland and saw the DS9 cave set…walked on farther to Forry Ackerman’s Ackermansion (camera ran out of film) and then up to the observatory. Got most of the way back before I got a cab with my aching flat feet. The flight home was something out of The Langoliers: Below me only clouds. “A front” I thought…”another hundred miles and I will see the ground during daylight” I never did. When I got back I watched the Weather Channel…Nov of 92 IIRC. The whole lower 48 was socked in with clouds FROM COAST TO COAST. I have not seen anything like that before or since. The ONE day I fly during daylight hours and the view of the Earth is denied me. My guardian angel is a drunk. My guardian demon is on the ball! His name can’t be Azeal or some such. Oh no! My demon-Friday…his name must be Carruthers….
When I've flown over the US, there's been nary a cloud in sight. I've seen a huge vista of prairies and farmlands, Mount St Helens, Comb Ridge Utah, the Rockies, the Sierras, the Cascades, and even missile silos. Never seen the East Coast from the air though. It's always been night-time when I've passed that way.
Wasn't Sliders a primetime show on Fox? WHile Lost World was Saturday afternoon syndication. No slandering Sliders!
I'm going to give it a few more episodes before making any judgements; so far, meh, but that's not official. ...as an aside I see comparisons to 'terra Nova', an entertaining show, being made. this was my first thought as well.
Terra Nova was a family drama with dinosaurs. Prove didn't like that. They just wanted more dinosaurs. This show will have the same problem. And on top of that, the premise is significantly dumber.
Problem is the past they traveled to is pretty likely after dinosaurs are extinct if they're around 10,000 to 15,000 years in the past given the bird that was recovered. They're about 64,990,000 years too late for dinosaurs. Which seems like a waste although given the effects shown in the pilot I doubt they'd be able to pull off decent looking dinosaurs anyway.
I personally think that Dinosaurs are overrated and overused in time travel storylines set in prehistoric times. Give me Giant Sloths and Gomphotheriums anytime.
Aren't the tar pits thought to be only at most about 40,000 years old? There might be megafauna but, yes, dinosaurs are right out.
I love dinosaurs but I enjoy seeing other extinct animals get their moment in the spotlight as well. They have made things difficult for themselves, though, by deciding to go with mammals and birds. Fur and feathers are significantly harder to pull off in CG than scales.
Not watching it as not available here yet. I expect it'll show up on Sky One at some point. I wonder if the date is related to the Younger Dryas event. Younger Dryas - Wikipedia Did a Comet Hit Earth 12,000 Years Ago? - Scientific American
Just another show trying to create the first couple seasons of Lost. I dont bother with these shows anymore. After the awful way Lost turned out and all the stupid flash forwards and backwards etc., with zero payoff, I wont bother with these shows anymore. Just boring and the writers always seem to write themselves In corners and are so worried about the TWIST.... Lost and Battlestsr Galactica are two great examples of this....they had several parallels to each other....
Yeah, they didn't have a plan, which was especially ironic for BSG, where the Cylons were meant to have one and where Adama literally painted himself into a corner in one episode.
It was a disappointing ending. They did exactly what I knew they would at the end. Do the reverse of galactica 1980 and go to earth of the past not the present, big twist...whoppdee doo and just make Starbuck disappear..lol... Thankfully there is no way they will go back to that show.
Wasn't "Land of the Lost" also just a family drama with dinosaurs? ....Doesn't that just make this a new version of Land of the Lost?
Watched the 2nd ep last night and meh... ...show seems to move too slow for me. I suppose if I was back to a regular TV viewer I'd DVR the show and enjoy it using the FF option. Now that we cut the cord and have apps and streams competing for attention it's difficult for a show to put the hook in me. Truthfully at this point in time I'd rather re-watch LOST but we've saving that for when the weather closes in.
