They argue via TelepathyBBS. Their debates about which way the bridge faces are headache-inducing.

They're always fighting over it and changing it. Poor Pike can barely keep up.

Hey, even the cannon is not canon, just merely one of the earliest illusions the "buttheads" derived from the crew's thoughts.

    Nope
Kirk was in love - a fool in love.
He wasn't playing the big game. He was playing the fool's game and everyone nearly died (or got put into suspended animation) because of it.

Naah. Watch the line "We are fighting over a woman!" and tell me Kirk is being serious. :guffaw:

He's pulling Flint's leg, is all. By fondling those of his fake daughter-lover, whom he utterly forgets before the epilogue rolls.

    It is a catchy tune.

Moving on to something I only just noticed yesterday. Since the remaster 15 years ago, I have been paying more attention to the recurring non-dialogue extras. On a whim, I put on "Balance of Terror" for a rewatch. In the teaser, at the Martine-Tomlinson wedding, I finally noticed that Frank DaVinci was wearing a gold shirt. After the opening credits, he was back on the bridge wearing his customary blue shirt. A few minutes later, when Spock gives his historical briefing to the crew over the intercom, the gold shirted version of DaVinci is one of the crewmen listening in the corridor.

Re-watching TMP recently I was struck by how many lens flares there are.

He doesn't even know if he looks like Jeffrey Hunter, a disfigured Sean Kenney, Bruce Greenwood or Anson Mount.

Sean Kenney played the disfigured Captain Pike in the TOS episode "The Menagerie".

Sadly, there are lots of real life examples.

    LOL!

I'm re-watching The Man Trap for the first time in who-knows-how-long. Damn. It's so good! A few things I've noticed:
    • I know this wasn't the first post-Cage ep filmed, but the world already feels lived in. Kirk teases McCoy when they first beam down and apologizes after he snaps at him - very believably friends. Uhura is teasing and flirting with Spock, even putting her hand on his arm (he seems to find his collar a bit tight there!). Even when she gets mad at him, there's a familiarity. Janice and Sulu seem to be friends/friendly. She even handles the catcalling jerks like she's used to it.
    • The first redshirt to die is wearing blue!
    • It's not sickbay yet, it's the dispensary.
    • The ruins on the planet look vaguely Aztec.
    • I think Uhura has more to do & say here than in the rest of the eps combined!
    • The actor playing Green did a great job lusting after that salt shaker.
    • I had completely forgotten about the plant Janice likes!
    Charlie X next!

    Yep.

I believe that "The Man Trap" and "Where No Man Has Gone Before" are the only two episodes that use the term "dispensary," and in "Where No Man Has Gone Before" Dr. Piper seems to be referring to the medical center of the Delta Vega mining outpost.
