While I do want Strange New Worlds to establish its own tone and its own world building, it will still be part of the twenty-third century Star Trek universe. And as such, the potential exists to continue or build upon some of the world-building established in other shows.
There is story material from TOS with Spock and Leila Konami, and possibly T'Pring as well as established backstory for Christine Chapel that SNW could mine. Spock visited home 4 years before Amok Time. All of which is in the time frame of the new show.
And there are characters from Discovery, such as L'Rell and Tyler that could be revisited. I imagine any encounter with the Klingons would involve L'Rell, even if Pike just drops her name as someone he knows. Although, to be honest, I feel that the less we see of section 31, the better but YMMV.
Thoughts?
