Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I assume it is for season 3 since they are shooting that right now. He’s just posted a photo of what appears to be a helm and/or transporter console with a TNG-style LCARS layout and colours. It’s definitely different from the 2399 style LCARS they were using previously. Interesting…

It says Helm control on one of the buttons. The Sliders are from Voyager's helm console.

Also there's physical buttons or something on the two wedge shaped pieces of the display

He tagged Michael Okuda in the image. I wonder if he was consulted, like with Lower Decks.

Damn, that's beautiful-looking. I like the addition of the translucent buttons. I can't remember how many TNG control panels had physical buttons or toggles but I'm sure at least a few did over seven seasons even if they weren't on the Enterprise herself.

It has the TNG colour scheme (though with more purple than I remember), but some of the control designs are VOY style, as I mentioned, the sliders.

Straightening out the console image, it looks like its using a 32:9 screen (possibly two synchronised 16:9 displays), there is some evidence of pixelation, so not a backlit graphic.

Well, if their idea was to show how downtroden Raffi was, the trailer park would have worked better!
I'm just picturing the complaints here if she had been literally living in a trailer park.

The version that aired works well. It is clear that she has a very nice standard of living compared with someone in comparable circumstances today, but she still gets to contrast her situation with Picard's. Which is all that is really required of the set-up.

I took it also as a visual metaphor. Raffi is a pot addicted conspiracy theorist living in a trailer.

Yep, she was the 2399 equivalent of an anti-masker toking weed every day from a swank trailer with all the best appliances one can have.

And how did you determine she has the "best appliances one can have", according to 24th century standards?

Except that anti-maskers are full of shit and Raffi was right.

Although the show was in the can before COVID, masks, and questioning vaccines ever became a thing, I found it somewhat disappointing / irresponsible that they chose to follow the "kooky conspiracy theorist shunned by society is actually right about everything and really the hero" angle...
