I only said the shot implied the dome was transparent, meaning it's ambiguous. People have taken it different ways.

You know what I mean. :)

There have been various novels over the years like Maximum Warp and Cold Equations that implied there was an ancient and powerful civilisation who left some very powerful devices out in space that can are universe altering. Maybe this is another one?

I'm happy Kira is going to return in the books. To help Ben Sisko and Bajor in David Mack's novel.:bolian: I also hope Odo will be returning too.

This is our last chance to see all of them, I hope EVERYONE is in these books somehow. All in one gigantic scene together... using the power of friendship.

I was thinking an anime-type ending where all the friends we made along the way show up at the end for the final battle, or like in Digimon 02 when not only all the Digimon were there, but each of their evolutions! It was a huge fanservice finale and I loved every moment. The Avengers Endgame type ending. Let's have a conference call between all the separate ships on the viewscreen at once! It can be like when all the Doctors showed up to put Gallifrey in its place!

However! I will not say no to a good old fashioned Care Bear Stare or Care Cousin Call. Have a fleet of Cardassian, Klingon, and Ferengi ships come in with the 'Khitomer Stare'.

How about something like the scene from Star Trek Online’s Measure of Morality quest, where the lead ships of all the shows at the time appeared to back up the player against Borg Queen!Seven?

Yes, exactly like that...and it has to be extremely dramatic and long-winded. Tactical officer has to be like, "Sir, multiple warp signatures!...Its...THE ENTERPRISE!" because we need that as many times as we can get in every possible Star Trek medium. And then have them also do that for every following ship, each hailing in a special, modified, final-episode-only version of their catch phrase. Think Power Rangers, when they are doing their final pose and roll call without the suits or helmets.

Picard: "I heard you were engaged in combat!"
Admiral Janeway: "I hear there's coffee in that nebula!"
Riker: "RED ALERT!" (said over a hail, for some reason)
Dax: This is gonna be easy peasy
Sisko: This fight just got REEAAALLL.

Do they do that in Power Rangers? I know it's a staple of Super Sentai finales (and I love it), but I don't recall PR emulating it.

I'm probably mis-remembering then, because I've watched a lot more Super Sentai than Power Rangers, and it's also been over a decade. PR needs to bring that tradition over!

They’ve done it at least once - Wild Force’s finale in particular had a big moment in the finale where their powers were lost during the final fight, they’re on a roof in the rain as the big bad taunts them, and they counter with a six part speech where everyone ends their part by shouting their name and animal, striking their standard pose, all unmorphed.

Wild Force in general skewed very similar to the Sentai structure and style, more than most PR series, so that might have been a contributing factor.

More than that -- Wild Force was an almost verbatim adaptation of Gaoranger, aside from changing the Red Ranger's personality and backstory and adding an original archvillain. Most of its episodes were direct remakes, so it's no wonder they did the finale similarly as well. (Although in Gaoranger, the heroes usually went by their Ranger titles and were discouraged from using their real names as some sort of "pure warrior focus" thing, so the finale roll call was the first time they all actually stated their full names to one another, giving it an impact that I don't think the American version had.)

The previous year's Time Force was also an extremely faithful adaptation of Timeranger, and actually a slight improvement on that excellent season through its addition of the Ransik character, a more complex and nuanced villain than the original had. But while I really liked Gaoranger, I found Wild Force mediocre, despite them telling essentially the same story. I guess the execution matters as much as the writing. As illustrated even more clearly by Samurai/Super Samurai, which was such a (mostly) direct Shinkenger remake that the Japanese writers actually got script credit -- but while Shinkenger is probably my favorite Sentai series, Samurai is easily the worst Power Rangers series. The acting and execution were far more inept, and Shinkenger was such a deeply Japanese story that it felt incongruous in an American context.

[looks around] Oh, wait, this is a Star Trek thread. Topic drift alert! We are off course!

I usually don’t pre-order physical copies of the books, so I’m not sure how that usually plays out. Does anyone else’s Amazon order for Moments Asunder say that it won’t be delivered until October 5, one week after release date?

Since last month, Amazon is weirdly showing that it will deliver books 1 month after release.
They do deliver on release date/day after, though.

Amazon's delivery estimates have been out of whack ever since the pandemic started. I preorder everything and since the pandemic the delivery estimates can range from a week to a month (or even two) after release date. But despite of the delivery estimates, the product usually arrives within a few days, maybe slightly over a week after the release date.
