I just don't think one should watch 1-3 at all. Ever.

Yep, it's not as bad as watching Star Wars chronologically but it's still a big "Why?"

4-5-1-2-3-6-7-8-9

Anything else is just stupid. Unless they ever make a 1-2-3 super cut to watch between 5 and 6. The sequels are Star Wars, no matter what overaged whiney boys hurt in their childhood say. You can still NOT LIKE THEM. But they are Star Wars, so suck it.

Clone Wars, Rebels, Bad Batch, Rogue One (best Star Wars since Empire) and Solo can be watch whenever you feel the need to fill some gaps. Yes, they all make sense.
NO!!!! You won't be a better Star Wars fan-person when you do watch them. There's no extra credit involved. Just liking Star Wars is enough to identify you as a fan, no matter what the interwebz says.

PS YES THIS ENTIRE POST WAS A GIANT LITTLE HUGE 'DON'T TAKE IT ALL SO SERIOUS' POST. None of it was in anyway a slight againt you Thestral. I just kind had to, you know?

Speaking just for myself, I consider framing sequences and end credit sequences to be irrelevant in terms of watching in chronological order and actually prefer a mix of chronological order and release order depending upon the narrative flow of the movies. I'll watch Captain America the First Avenger first, regardless of the frame and I just skip the post-credit sequence as it's just a scene from The Avengers anyway. I switch Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America the Winter Soldier from the release order for reasons of narrative flow because I feel that Thor the Dark World better flows into Guardians while the Winter Soldier better flows into Age of Ultron. Captain Marvel actually works either way for me. I can watch it before Iron Man or in between Infinity War and Endgame, but I generally don't like to split those movies up.

Maybe someone will do an Epic Order Edit and put every scene in chronological order.
Let's see, and this is all off the top of my head so I might be getting some things totally wrong and I'm sure I'll be forgetting stuff.

You could start by editing together the origin of the infinity stone scenes with the Collector in the first Guardians and Wong in Endgame.

Then the origin of Wakanda scene from Black Panther.

The opening flashback from Thor the Dark World.

ETA: Hela vs Valkyries from Thor Ragnarok (thanks @UssGlenn )

The opening flashback from Thor.

The "I'm with you till the end of the line" scene from The Winter Soldier.

The main body of Captain America the First Avenger.

The Agent Carter one shot and show. ( for the sake of my sanity I'm not even thinking about the flashbacks within the show, nor am I considering any of the other shows that were not produced by Marvel Studios.)

Bucky flashbacks from The Winter Soldier.

Flashbacks with Ego and Meredith Quill take place in 1980.

All flashbacks with Hank and Janet Pym.

Peter Quill is abducted from Earth in 1988.

The flashbacks in Captain Marvel and the opening scene flashbacks in Ant-Man take place in 1989.

The death of Howard Stark flashbacks in Civil War take place in 1991.

Killmonger flashbacks from Black Panther

Thanos adopts Gamora, Natasha's time in Ohio and the main body of Captain Marvel all happen in 1995.

The opening flashback of Iron Man 3 takes place in 1999.

Iron Man ( the theoretical mega cut would have to start at the "18 hours earlier" portion, then do the opening sequence, and then continue from there.)

The next 3, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk and the main body of Thor take place during the same week 6 months later.

The one shots were all produced by Marvel Studios and the one shot A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer took place during Coulson's journey from Iron Man 2 to Thor, and The Consultant takes place not much after the Incredible Hulk and is followed by the frame from Captain America the First Avenger.

The Avengers finishes out phase-one, with the one shot Item 47 providing an epilogue.

Then there is the main body of Iron Man 3, the final one shot All Hail The King, and the main body of Thor Dark World followed by Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 ( with a small exception from GotG2 to be noted later).

The Bucky flashbacks of the Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The non flashbacks sections of Captain America the Winter Soldier and all but the end credits sequence of Age of Ultron. The rest of Antman closes out phase 2.

Ugh. Posted prematurely. Continue to next post.

Phase 3 started with Captain America Civil War and then there are three movies that begin with Civil War as a starting point. Black Widow actually takes place entirely within the third act of Civil War.

Then the first scene of Spider-Man Homecoming, the non flashback portions of Black Panther and the rest of Spider-Man Homecoming.

Doctor Strange

All but the end credit scenes of Ant-Man and the Wasp.
The end credits sequence of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 with teen Groot.
The end credit scene of Avengers Age of Ultron.
Thor Ragnarok.
Avengers Infinity War
The first scene of Endgame with Hawkeye.
The end credit scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp
The end credit scene of Captain Marvel
The rest of Endgame

Loki picks up from within Endgame, but generally takes place outside of time and space, so place it anytime after Endgame but before Doctor Strange 2.

The first scene of WandaVision episode 4, We Interrupt This Program.

WandaVision

Falcon and Winter Soldier

Spider-Man Far From Home.

Black Widow end credit scene

whew.

The main value of the prequels is that they provide necessary context for The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch.
Nah. At the risk of derailing this thread even further, having recently watched The Clone Wars for the first time (and over a relatively short period of time), I'd argue there's no need for the prequels. I rewatched the prequel trilogy after the series and the trilogy just doesn't really make any difference for me. All I need is The Clone Wars before segueing into The Bad Batch, Rebels, Solo, Rogue One, and then the original trilogy.

I think the main reason watching the MCU in chronological order makes no real sense is because there's no real continual story or character you can track that would benefit from it.
Honestly, release order makes the most sense because the movies that take place earlier in the timeline like TVA & CM are meant to serve as a flashback of sorts within the larger story, and usually come right when they need to. I mean imagine having a "chronological rewatch" of say Pulp Fiction. You'd utterly kill any sense of pacing and style; the flashbacks and foreshadowings are there for a reason. These things are stories, not historical documentaries! ;)

Yeah, Machete Order is what I like too for that reason.
Personally I just watch whichever one I feel like watching at any given time. I know them all back to front anyway, so the order doesn't really add or subtract anything to the experience for me.

I think the only thing I'd flip in release order is to put Iron Man 2 ahead of The Incredible Hulk. The final scene of the latter doesn't really make a whole lot of sense when it's revealed in IM2 that SHIELD are still trying to convince Stark to work with them.
