When half the shows and movies being made are comic book/super hero stuff, it's bound to happen. Actors gotta' eat.

Basically, yes.

I mean, fans connect to characters in a different way than actors do. Sure, sometimes they play a part for years and feel really connected to the character. Sometimes they'll even connect with a character when they see how much a certain part can impact viewers.
But generally speaking, it's a paycheck for them. Especially when it's a returning character. He's Talbot for AoS fans. But I remember him most from Heroes and really had to unsee him from that to get into him as Talbot. I kept expecting a 'Flying Man!!!' from somewhere ofscreen.

Well, yes, of course. Naturally the two largest superhero franchises would share a lot of actors. I'm not questioning or criticizing it; I just like making lists. I'm trying to remember how many times it's happened.

There's an upcoming Lego minifigure collection set that features characters from WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and What If...? Of particular note is one of the characters from What If...?

One of them is identified as Zombie Hunter Spidey and he's wearing a cloak (presumably the Cloak of Levitation). He's featured in the recent poster, but not in either of the trailers and this is the first time I've seen that description of that version of Spider-Man.

Smith has always been super picky about sequels, has he done any other than MIB? I suppose Marvel Money could be very persuasive. I'd still like to see a 1960s period piece F4. But the Lost in the Past and Found in the present bit was done by Captain America (and sort of by Captain Marvel, but not in Universe so it doesn't count). As with all these you need to come up with a good excuse why they haven't been around. So they either have to be a new team, thus the origin story, yet again, or they have been out of commission for a long time, like lost in the Negative zone since 1960s, but very little time has passed for them.

They didn't really milk Caps Fish out of Water story for as much as they could have, so it might not be retreading too much.

Yeah, much as I'd like to see an established 60's FF in the present, everything points to new team/origin. Reed's a smart guy, but 60-plus years is a lot of technological progress to try to catch up on in a very short time. And between WandaVision's SWORD space program and power-granting Cosmic (Microwave Background) 'Ray'diation, you've got their fateful trip to space all ready to go.

I've been burnt out on the MCU, but some really good friends of mine have started slowly getting me back into it, and I actually want to go watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings... especially after just having watched Doctor Strange, which broke my opinion that the MCU had become same-y, and which I wish I'd seen well before now.

So the Marvel Studios social media feed announced November 24, 2021 as the premiere date for Hawkeye on Disney+.

Based on this dates and number of episodes for Hawkeye and What If...?, I am not sure how Ms. Marvel gets released this year. To do so, they will need to have a week where two episodes are released (either two episodes of Ms. Marvel or the Ms. Marvel premiere happening the same week as the What If...? finale or the Ms. Marvel finale being released the same day as the Hawkeye premiere).

Late 2021 was previously stated as Ms. Marvel's release date. So either it'll be out before Hawkeye or it'll be released next year. They've been done filming for awhile now, so I'm guessing it'll come out before.

The Marvel's are coming out Nov 22 of 2022, so maybe they are moving it closer to maintain the momentum?

What is the current MCU release calendar?

Yeah, that would make sense, but I also find it hard to believe they would delay the show more than a few months considering the show has been post-production for awhile.

I tend to agree with this point, which is why I love this deleted seeing from the first Avengers and wish not only that it had been included, but that we had gotten more like it.

OH! I hadn't seen this before. My heart! :wah:

It seems weird then that we would get a release date for Hawkeye before Ms. Marvel if it's coming out first.
Ms. Marvel is probably going to be a lot more effects heavy than Hawkeye, so maybe they decided to release Hawkeye first to give them time to finish the effects for Ms. Marvel. A lot of the FX companies have been having their people work from home, and so that could have slowed things down a bit more than they expected.

That's a fair point. Hawkeye probably has more stunts that special effects, whereas Ms. Marvel probably has the reverse going for it.

Scarlet Johansson is suing Disney for breach of contract because of the simultaneous release of Black Widow on D+ and in theaters.
Yeah, there's a full discussion about that in the Black Widow thread.

The arrows will probably be mostly digital. I recall reading an article by a professional archer bemoaning how utterly incompetent Jeremy Renner's archery form was in The Avengers. If he'd been firing real arrows, they would've flown all over the place. (IIRC, the author contrasted it against the meticulously correct and well-researched archery form that Pixar's animators gave to Merida in Brave.)

Yeah, I figured that was a given.

Marvel has posted an article revealing the Marvel Legends figures for What If...?, and Lokie's Sylvie, that includes a new WI? character I don't think we've seen before, "Heist Nebula". She doesn't appear to be a cyborg, and she has shoulder length blond hair.
Should've been red! Bah!
