It's just one season they split into halves.

There are some really awful human beings with YouTube channels going off on this show. But I guess being toxic and hateful is profitable.

I'm not exactly surprised by the reaction of sidelining the main character for the female sidekicks.

There are a lot of people who are morbidly attached to the memory of a 80's half hour toys commercial...

That's not it at all. They're just using nostalgia as an excuse for misogyny. Filmation shows were progressive and inclusive, so they're rejecting the message of the thing they claim to be defending.

It seems that every one of them skipped the last minute of the episode where He-Man explained you shouldn't be mean to other people...

I loved the show. I have zero nostalgia for the old He-Man cartoon, the original cartoon came out 7 years before I was born and ended about 5 years before, but I really enjoyed this show. It had good action, fun and memorable characters, and the story was very good. I don't know how the show would play to fans of the old show, although even I could tell there were a lot of character cameos and fanservice for old fans.

I will say that Kevin Smith did definitely lie about the show not being a Teela focused show, at least in the half that we've gotten so far, but I didn't care. Its not like any of the old characters had much character development, and for me they were all basically starting from scratch anyway so I didn't mind not getting much of He-Man/Adam. I'd have liked more of Skeletor because of Mark Hamil's great performance, but we got a lot of great stuff anyway, and I'm sure we're going to be getting a lot of him in the second half of the season.

My favorite characters of the season were probably, and I can't believe I'm saying this, Orko and Evil-lyn. It felt like they got the most character development after Teela, and while I liked Teela a lot, I liked Orko/Evil-lyn, and their dynamic together, slightly more. But most of the leading/main supporting characters were at least pretty good, there was no one I disliked even if I liked some more then others.

As for the second half of the season, Adam/He-Man is definitely not staying dead. He's dfinitely coming back, having another big transformation moment, and kicking Skeletor's ass (probably teaming with Teela), which should be awesome.

The only "bad" thing is that they don't seem to be planning to do a second season regardless of the success of this season, which is unfortunate. This has been one of my favorite new animated shows in years, probably tied with Castlevania, and I'd love to see more of it. I'd definitely rate it above the latest She-Ra show, which I enjoyed but felt like it dragged in spots and I like the art style and slightly more serious tone of MOTU better.

I'd say I was surprised by the people giving MOTU bad reviews, but I'm not. I'm sure the venn diagram between people that review bombed this and people that hated TLJ and Captain Marvel is just a circle, and that group is not worth listening to or acknowledging.

It definitely felt like we got half the story and it would've probably played better with the whole enchilada.

I never quite felt like Teela's voice matched her look but Lena Headey made for a good Evil-Lyn. I was surprised they didn't keep her close shorn hair from the original series as it seems like it would be kind of cool still. And I liked Ser Davos as Man At Arms.

I was glad they could find a spot for Alan Oppenheimer voicing Moss Man though I wondered if he could still pull of Skeletor. Tony Tood as Scareglow? Lots of cool casting in this one actually, I won't name everyone though I could go on.

I liked the technopriest take on Tri-Clops which just seemed right somehow, like someone Thundarr would've taken on. They really seemed to try to get all the characters crammed in here one way or another which was fun. I threw in an episode of the 2002 series afterwards and the animation here was much better.

I thought Andra was a bit of a dud, for as prominent as she was I thought she should've been more interesting, had some more of a unique MOTU quirk or something to set her apart. Corny as the characters sometimes are they are generally distinct.

I'm so glad I watched the show before reading this.

Well, Skeletor did drop the "final battle" line...

Do we know when part two comes out?

I'm enjoying it so far. Smith obviously read the comics that came with the figures. When the cartoon came out, I was very disappointed that it was so cheesy in comparison. The show throws away the reset button and actually develops the characters. I think it feels more like a sequel to the 2002 series, which had far better characterisation. That show wasn't overly popular so I hope they bring it back so I can rewatch. Doesn't look like you can buy it.

Castle Grayskull being the disguise for the Hall of Wisdom goes right back to the original series bible. It was just never really alluded to in the Filmation series.

As someone who has been a He-Man fan since I first saw it in 1987, I absolutely loved Revelation. As a kid I always wondered what would happen if Skeletor won and Revelation answered the question for me very well. Teela's relationship to the Sorceress and her implied destiny was also one my favourite plot threads from the Filmation series, so I'm glad that Teela has been given the spotlight. Also I think we're going to have our expectations subverted regarding Teela's destiny given the dialogue around Teela being able to choose her own destiny.

I've only gotten through the first episode, but speaking as a huge He-man fan when I was a kid in the 80s, I loved this so far. I don't get the whole toxic reaction. To me, I saw all the great characters I loved as a kid. It was great seeing Evilyn and Teela square off again. I highly doubt heman and skelator are dead. Biggest clue is no bodies lol.

Seeing a lot of negativity online over the show but responses here seem very level headed. Might wait till part 2 comes out to watch it all.

Professional critics and normal decent human beings are giving glowing reviews to the series. The people who for whatever reason are convinced that the original show was some kind of MRA manifest are the ones who have problems with the reboot.

Are the 2002 one and a half seasons available for purchase or download? I'd like a rewatch.

Just from what I'm reading and the video reviews popping up online people are feeling angry about being sold on something they didn't get. I don't think it's a fair criticism but they are using it as a justification for what they didn't like in the show. Anyway, this is just more publicity for the show.
