Big Brother 23

This thread is going to exist two days from now at the latest so might as well create it.

One of the houseguests was removed or a positive COVID test and had a last minute replacement. It's being touted as a more diverse cast than usual so we'll see where that goes. I haven't heard anything concrete about this season's gimmicks. Except, no returning houseguests.

I only saw the first half of the episode cause I had to stop for a Zoom call but so far most of the houseguests seem like higher quality people than we usually get. Just based on biographies I kinda want to vote for 'Autistic karate master'.

I had no idea the season had started or that there would be a season. I only found out because my telecom sent an email that I happened to read. So I missed the first episode and have no idea who's on it.

They folded to pressure to diversify the cast, but lets see if there is any positive changes to the game.

Okay, it looks like episodes are available on Global, so I've just seen the premiere.

Well, the house is rather... blue. But at least it doesn't look terrible so far. We still haven't seen the bedrooms, the HOH room, or the have-nots room.

My first impression of most of the cast is very positive. Only a handful of people who are just vapid hot 22 year olds. A weird amount of people who design clothes.

Not sure I like the team thing, but you know that will go away in four weeks.

I like the gambling gimmick.

Frenchie made you want to like him at first but he overplayed his hand immediately. He decided who he wanted out right away, promised everyone else they were safe, then had no backup plan when the one guy was not an option.

Yep. Making all those promises was stupid. He should be building contingency plans for when the team aspect of the game gets tossed or changed.

Okay, either Frenchie's days are numbered because everyone knows what a manipulative liar he is, or he'll win the damn thing. Hopefully he'll go sooner, because I loathe, detest, and despise him.

The only good thing about the first eviction is that I no longer have to be confused because two of the men look so much alike that I spent the whole week wondering which was which.

You could see Julie visibly fight off the cringe when Travis made that comment about white guys with abs.

He isn’t that bad as far as Big Brother narcissists go. But that’s the group that gets targeted. They just happen to mostly be white guys with abs.

I liked that comp, I’m glad Kyland won. Yeah, Frenchie was just so impulsive. Making snap decisions then changing them after one positive conversation.

Frenchie's HOH was a disaster. I have a hard time believing this guy is a fan with a showing like that.

Please let him be gone tonight...

So... any favorites yet? Any you just can't stand (besides Frenchie)?

I'm at a point where there aren't really any HG's that I strongly dislike. I think Brent isn't that bright and Christian is just another "Cowboy" Caleb, but for once the cast seems interesting. Production really needs to stop the HG's re-tells of the rules of a competition in the DR and their stupid shoutouts during voting.

So far there isn’t anyone I have strong negative feelings for. The most narcissistic was Travis, he’s not even that bad, and he’s gone. Even Frenchie complimented everyone on his way out.

My favorites so far are probably Sarah Beth and both Dereks. I also like Azah and Xavier.

Picks to win, I think Xavier is a strong pick. He can win comps and he’s just naturally likable. He has “Disarming” down to a science.

I agree on Xavier. I also like Derek X.

The women need to be aware of just how much anatomy the cameras are showing when they lean in close, lest a "wardrobe malfunction" occur.

I really need to stop watching this show when I'm in bed. I slept through half of yesterday's episode, and will need to catch up on Global's website.

Watching Brent think he's got all these votes in the bag was the best part of tonight's episode.

The last time anyone cluelessly boasted that much about blindsides was on Survivor. It was also a much-disliked player, so I wonder if her expression and Brent's expression (of shock) will be anything close.

Watching Brent's logic is kind of hilarious. It all starts with "Brent is great. If Brent is great, then that implies..."

I'm starting to think that someone from the Cookout is absolutely going to win.

They already nearly have the majority. And also a layer of protection of nobody else wanting to risk being accused of racism on national TV by suggesting they're all working together.

As long as whoever wins does so by being a good player and not being a jerk or abusive to anyone, and as long as they're not a floater who got lucky.

That said... At this point, unless they get blindsided, I predict that either Xavier or Tiffany will win. Maybe Derek X (he's already building a resume with two Veto wins).
