What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

I hate the design of the Odyssey class from Star Trek Online, and do not regard the Enterprise-F as canon in any way. (Actually I hope this isn't that controversial an opinion.)

I mean nothing from Star Trek online is canon (unfortunately, in some cases, I'd gladly trade the Romulan Republic for PIC. But very fortunately in the majority of cases.) but I actually think it looks alright (still better than the Discovery, for example)

I hated the 1701-F at first. Now I'd be perfectly happy were the class and design canonized in PIC or LD or both.

It varies from year to year, day to day probably. But today:

1. TOS
2. TNG
3. LDS
4. TAS
5. PIC
6. DS9
7. VOY
8. ENT
9. DISCO

Please keep in mind, these are series averages of some sort. And likely each series has an episode that's better than the worst in all others.

Well favourite shows, right now:
1.DS9
2.Lower Decks
3. TNG
4.TOS
5.DISC
6.VOY
7.ENT?
8.TAS? And it really physically hurts me to rank it on last.
9.PIC because, evebn though I understand it's of better quality than TAS, ENT and Voyager I don't even enjoy a single episode of that series, so I have to rank it last. What use is quality to me if I don't like the finished product? At least ENT, and TAS have some "so bad it's good" episodes.
That's it. I watched PIC every week. Never once! enjoyed it. Dreadful duty. DSC, I enjoy episodes and characters, though the bad equals the good IMHO. But PIC, yes: no enjoyment. Thank you.

YMMV

Alright, I'll play along.

1. TOS
2. DS9
3. DSC
4. Lower Decks
5. Picard
6. TAS
7. TNG
8. VOY
9. ENT

It will always come down to characters, not quality. ENT rarely, if ever, engaged me with the characters to the point that I gave a :censored: about them by the end.

I can only rate the series in groups, instead of indvidually.

DSC/PIC
TOS
TNG/DS9/VOY
ENT

or...

New Trek
Classic Trek
'90s Trek
Bush Trek

T'Pol on Enterprise always bugged me a bit because Vulcan fashions always had these loose, flowing robes. It just made no sense that their military wore Seven of Nine level skintight catsuits.

T'Pol was in one sense the worst part of ent. Blalock could potentially have been the best actor on the show, or at the very least top three. But not only was her character built from the ground up as titillation first and foremost, the writing for her character was also constantly weak and contradictory, usually twisting everything about her into traits that seemed nearly the opposite of other vulcans - not as an interesting story point, but always to justify her shallow portrayal. And there was a disturbing obsession with her character being victimized, to boot.

The correct ranking of the series is as follows:

TNG
VOY
DSC
ENT
DS9
TOS
LDS
PIC

You're welcome.

:techman:

You're a sick man. Although placing ENT 4th like I do saves you from total excoriation. ;)

Truth be told, I like all the series except Picard. So really it's just a list relative to each other.

After years in the barren wastelands, it's currently a great time to be a TV Trek fan. I'm sorry if people don't like all that's being produced right now but I prefer it to the big fat nothing we had for years.

controversial opinio:
Deep Space Nine is a tale about how two of the greatest figures in the galaxy's history of that period, The Sisko, a member of the Prophets, who helped reform both the Federation and Bajoran Society, briefly worked with Rom, the future great leader and reformer of Ferengi Society.

Right then. Bit of a reshuffle from the last time I gave this a go.

TOS
DS9
TNG
DSC (!)
VOY
ENT
LDS
PIC

So, I've been fairly critical of Discovery these past few years, and was a self-proclaimed fan of Picard by the 3rd episode. Well, I've just finished a re-watch of DISCO S1 & 2. It's helped me better identify the issues I *do* have with the show and the variables that (IMO) could be tinkered with to improve it. I think it's modern format helps elevate it under the top tier stuff. It still remains a frustrating experience, but i am perhaps ... a little less icy towards it now.

The Berman era ... has not aged particularly well - TNG and DS9 included. But, there's a lot more in those two I like than VOY and ENT (checked out of Voyager after RDM came and went; ENT early S2 - caught up with both eventually). That said, Voyager has some great episodes sprinkled throughout it's run, and Enterprise had some things happen too. ;)

Picard, on the other hand. Well, that was some serious whiplash after sticking my neck out proclaiming it was the first time since DS9 I could call myself a fan of new Trek. A lot of tease, red herrings and mystery boxes ... and piss poor pay off. John Delancie's return is enough to perk my interest, as is the fact they apparently planned the upcoming season out prior to filming it. Wonders will never cease.

As for the top spot. I came into Trek through the Berman years. It wasn't until I was already an entrenched Trek fan I really gave it a proper watch. More recently over lockdown I watched TOS from start to finish. Yeah, there's some shockers in there. But at it's best, it's the ultimate comfort food.

1. TOS/TAS
2. DS9
3. TNG
4. ENT
5. VOY
6. DSC

not ranked….Lower Decks and Picard. I just think with only one season in the books it’s too early to tell. LD had the best 1st season of any Trek since TOS but season 2 could really stink. Picard season 1 was very uneven but season 2 could just be a home run.

I definitely agree with the Fry Ratio of TOS.

79 episodes, about 30 good ones.

Also, I hate TMP. A lot.

Having said that, Star Trek films 2-6 are all lovely warm blankets on a cold winter morning. Comfy and reassuring.

If I had to choose, I would take films 2-6 over the TV series.
