Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I scaled and overlaid the image of the overhead emitter:
Which I think is a hat-tip to the WNMHGB transporter chamber, the only episode to have such a thing.

That's probably the only part I don't like. I could do without the trim on the ship(the steps, the bridge railing, etc.) having internal lighting.

Just looked that show up. Technically my time, but I was a kid, and it was on Showtime, which I didn't have. Okay. Looks like it was an interesting show, now that I read more about it.

But, anyway, back to Strange New Worlds.

The TOS design is outdated, I'm sorry.

The DSC design certianlly looks better than then the TOS Enterprise in the context of the 21st century, and fits in the lineage of the movie Refit better.

It's Star Trek, when have any of the displays ever been functional?

They won't. It's not the 60s anymore.
It's not so dated you can't take the basic setting and simply update it a little. The bridge should look functional and somewhat simple. You don't need computer graphics all over the place. Also it should have something that makes it feel unique compared to other bridges. TNG had the Wooden panel, DS9 ops was Cardissian, Voyager changed the layout by putting the pilot upfront by itself and Enterprise had a submarine feel. Discovery on the other hand just feels generic overloaded with CGI graphics. I think they would sort of replicate the TOS bridge with same color scheme, computer graphics replacing blinkies but still subdued and a new Captains chair that is for Pike instead of copying the one Kirk had.

And the blinkies can alternate with dynamic displays like they often do in expensive fan films set in the TOS Era. They show blinky indicator lights unless an officer needs to bring up data on one of the readouts and then you see the more dynamic graphics.

The bridge should also be small and not huge. More cozy than expansive for no reason. I do like the idea though of going with the TNG idea of having the ready room and conference room connected to the bridge. Though I would created a single door that opens off the bridge and you got into a small hallway that has 4 other doors. One is the ready room the other the conference room and the other two is the bathroom and the other is basically a small storage space with phasers ,tri-corders, food stuffs, medical kits in case of a emergency like the ship being invaded or suffering from major damage for some reason.
