Spoilers Loki season one discussion thread

Season one is now over, any thoughts?,,,

Not well versed in the MCU comic lore so the big reveal did mean a whole lot to me, it was predicted by many though

I've been reading Marvel and DC comics for 56 years. My earliest memories are from Wonderwoman vs Mouseman, reading in the back of the car during a long drive to somewhere I didn't care about. The early 60's issues mostly I got from trading with my friends who had older siblings. I haven't heard of Alioth or Qeng either because I take a break from titles when I get bored of them. My history means squat to the MCU. That they draw from little known characters from comics history to fashion their stories is to their credit.
My knowledge doesn't actually come from the comics. I'm always curious about the origins of things, so the first chance I get after something new is introduced in one of the DC or Marvel show or movies, or is mentioned in the promotional stuff, is hop on the Wikis and read through the pages on it.
Are we sure that Mobius and B15 no longer remember Loki due to a timeline change or did Sylvie actually send Loki into an alternate timeline? She had just gained the device and timelines were branching at that point and possibly even the other universes were beginning to make contact. Perhaps Loki is in a previously blocked off universe where Kang the Conquerer exists as the known being in charge.
That was the impression I got.
effects of it in some coming movies - Holland's Spiderman meeting Maguires' and Garfields' Spidermen, Alfred Molina as Doc Ock and ( i don't know if that's hard rumor) Cox reprising his Netflix Daredevil ( if that happens you will find me under the seat in a happy coma).
We don't know this stuff is happening, right now it's all just rumors, and other than maybe Doc Ock, everyone involved has been very insistent in their denials that it's happening.
What a shitty ending. Is that random guy Kang? He doesn't have really any similarities to Kang at all outside of being a time travel guy (they don't share motivations, backstory or apparently names), but then at the end we see a statue of him dressed like Kang. But why didn't they say his fucking name if he's Kang?
Because he's not Kang, he's The One Who Remains. Kang is most likely going to be a variant of the same person that he is a variant of.
Also, nothing was resolved,
I wouldn't say nothing was resolved, they answered the big question that has been driving a lot of the show, and Sylvie succeeded in killing He Who Remains. They apparently went into this knowing it's getting a second season, so they left things open to continue there.

So it actually was Kang, but actually not Kang.
There definitely was a lot of sitting around and talking in this one, but the writing and performances from everyone involved was good enough to keep things interesting.
Jonathan Majors was great as The One Who Remains, and I'm very curious to see what his Kang and any other variants they introduce next season will be like.
I did not expect Sylvie to actually kill him, so that was a big surprise.
We finally got a Loki/Sylvie kiss, but it's still questionable how Sylvie really feels about our Loki.
I'm curious where exactly Ravonna was going.
A lot of people had been predicting a rebirth of the multiverse at the end, so that wasn't much of a surprise. I've seen some ads saying that Loki was going to change the MCU, and they were not lying. In the rest of Phase 4 we've got at least one series, and three movies that will most likely be spinning out of the events of this finale.
This also makes it look like What If? is more important than it originally looked, since it's apparently exploring the timelines splitting off because of what happened here.

I really enjoyed this. Best Marvel series by miles.

I had no clue what they'd do with Loki in a series, but Marvel's version of Enterprise's time police was not what I expected. I'm assuming this was shot during Covid? Everything felt... small. Either small rooms or (unconvincing, but still cool) greenscreens. But yeah.

Incest usually squicks me out but of course Loki would fall for a variant of himself:lol:. The Loki That Folded Himself.

I found the season uneven. The best stuff was early on and liked the budding friendship between Loki and Owen Wilson. Lady Thor sort of took over the whole narrative soon as she arrived and Loki was basically just a side character at that point though ironically I do like her in terms of personality and performance from the actor. She just made real Loki more dull as he lost all of his edge. The show is watchable but it isn't really maximizing the potential you can have with Loki as your main character. Maybe the bigger issue is they just needed more than 6 episodes to blend all the parts together in a better way. I do like Majors though and was impressed. Haven't seen Lovecraft Country yet but I think he is going to make a good Kang.

I liked it but, to me who's not up on comics, I had a whos this guy like the end of avenger with thanos. Was like okay, seems like a villian but who are you?
I have no idea who Kang is. I know look it up.. But you shouldn't have to look up the main villian.. That's Rise Of Skywalker level BS.
I know, it will be explained eventually..

I only know the name basically but to be fair they explained who He Who Remains is basically, didn't they?

Yeah.. He's Rick Sanchez.. That's what was going through my mind when he explained the Sliders Wars.
Some lived in the citadel of Kangs, others revolted and the Kangist of Kangs won.

Was the name He Who Remains ever used for any of the different versions of Kang in the comics? I don't remember seeing it in any of the stuff I read about him online, but it's been a while since I read up on him.

It also seems strange to "randomly" introduce him in the final hour of a 6 (ish) hour story where there's been zero reference or seeding of him anywhere. That's just poor storytelling. My money's not on Kang, but someone or something more personal to Loki, including a variant of himself.

The same reasons I kept laughing at the odd Mephisto hopes in WandaVision. You just don't randomly pull people in at the very end because a few comic book reader will know who he is.

Well, I was very very wrong.
On the plus side, it worked for me.
But I admit. Very wrong.

I learned about Kang the conqueror from “earths mightiest heroes”

I thought the season was great overall, but the finale was too expositiony for Marvel.
I was very proud of myself earlier today when I thought of the description “We’ll have to wait for future seasons and movies to find out if the season 1 finale of Loki was an anti-climax or an ante-climax.”

I wonder if the MCU’s next Endgame level event/10 year plan is Secret Wars.
I'm sure there are plenty to do a secret wars storyline at some point but I doubt they're going to stretch it out over the next decade. They'll probably try and do it (including ending it), within 2 to 4 years.
