To complain later?I'm only gonna watch this NuTrek abomination because of Q.

...and the second one followed suit. The true final frontier is time. The new season of "Star Trek: Picard" is coming 2022, exclusively on Paramount+.
Earth Trek?Just keep Picard on Earth
I kind of do too, but I just want to be positive.I have a strong feeling you're gonna be disappointed...
Oh yes. Absolutely.Earth Trek?
How do you reach that conclusion? After all, the first poster released for season 1 was the vineyard shaped like a Starfleet arrowhead, and as you yourself noted, Earth only played a minimal role in that season. That poster for season two hopefully indicates that they'll stay on Earth for the most part.
Because it's a show called Star Trek. It isn't a show about movie or sports stars on a hike cross country.Anyway, back to where I was: but yep, an old man getting on a ship and going out into space is just... "Why are they doing this?"
That poster is just meant to parallel the poster for S1That to me was the best part of Picard, when they were on Earth -- the vineyard, ....

Of course, I said hopefully it indicates that it'll mostly take place on Earth. And I'm working off of the the two teaser trailers so far (in addition to the teaser poster), and mostly the second teaser because that shows actual scenes from the season. And so far they haven't showed us (I believe save for one shot with Elnor) anything but shots that look like they're on Earth. How do you reach that conclusion? After all, the first poster released for season 1 was the vineyard shaped like a Starfleet arrowhead, and as you yourself noted, Earth only played a minimal role in that season.
Yes, it's called Star Trek. It's just silly to me to have a character of Picard's age still flying around in space.Because it's a show called Star Trek. It isn't a show about movie or sports stars on a hike cross country.
Yes, I didn't say the entire show, I said hopefully it indicates that they'll stay on Earth for the most part. That poster is just to meant to parallel the poster for S1
It doesn't indicate the entire show will be mostly on earth, any more the the S1 poster did.
Why? Space travel would be like road trips for us. Almost every retired person I know travels more than I do in my late 30s. My former boss is looking at retiring this coming year and traveling year round. Space travel is routine in Star Trek.Yes, it's called Star Trek. It's just a character being 94 years-old and traveling around in space was like "Why are they doing this? Why? Space travel would be like road trips for us. Not trying to be pedantic but this is confusing. But, I hope you get something of what you want.
The silly ship in Star Trek went to warp a loooong time ago. It's just a character being 94 years-old and traveling around in space was like "Why are they doing this?
Obviously it was done in Picard because of that particular reason for that particular story that they wanted to tell.
Okay, now that that's done, what would be the reason for doing it now?
I'm sure they can come up with a reason, but the idea in and of itself is just a silly thing to me. I get it, it's not hard to understand. It's just silly to me. And of course the "why" that I ask is rhetorical.
It's kind of like Indiana Jones at this point. You can of course do it, but why? Why is Harrison Ford at 78 years-old rehearsing fight scenes and getting hurt? Why are they doing this?
Anyway, if the show is something that I like, then great. And if not, then there's plenty of other Star Trek shows. And I'll just lump Picard in with 90s Trek and ignore it like I was going to anyway.![]()
Surely all Star Trek is about spaceships and their crews flying around space for reasons. That's kind of the main thrust of the franchise. It's right there in the title. Why shouldn't Rios and his crew continue to fly around space for reasons? And if Picard wants to go with them instead of hanging around on his vineyard feeling old, why shouldn't he?Hopefully this season isn't more of Rios and his ship, and all of them flying around in it for... reasons.
He's 94 in an era where humans can live to be 150. Especially now that Picard has a new lease on life, why wouldn't he want to travel? After all, a frustration he expressed in the season 1 premiere was that rather than living life, he was wasting his time "waiting to die."It's just a character being 94 years-old and traveling around in space was like "Why are they doing this?

Okay, now that that's done, what would be the reason for doing it now?
Yes, of course, there's rampant silliness in Star Trek. What happened in Picard just happens to be at my limit. The silly ship in Star Trek went to warp a loooong time ago.
It's not about it being set in space, it's about specific characters being in space.Surely all Star Trek is about spaceships and their crews flying around space for reasons. I dunno. It just seems strange to choose to watch a show called Star Trek and then complain about it being set in space.
Him leisurely traveling is fine. But that's not what I'm talking about, because I seriously doubt they would make a show about Jean-Luc Picard leisurely traveling around the galaxy. He's 94 in an era where humans can live to be 150. Especially now that Picard has a new lease on life, why wouldn't he want to travel? After all, a frustration he expressed in the season 1 premiere was that rather than living life, he was wasting his time "waiting to die."
Okay. That's fine. But of course it's not that simple.Staying on Earth in Star Trek does not make sense.
