Why the hate for Disco?

I actually want to re-watch some of these episodes, to see if they really were "bad" or if I was just sort of in a bad mood those days.

I do remember seeing INS and thinking it reminded me of "Homeward...."

 

"Homeward" is WAY better than "Eye of the Beholder." Season 7 had some real stinkers but few topped that one.

 

I'll check it out.

 

Watch the lowest rated episode on IMDb (or rotten tomatoes or EAS idk) of each season of Trek and see if they're actually bad (by your personal standard)

The lowest rated TOS Season 1 episode is 'The Alternative Factor' at 5.5.

 

That one's bad, yeah. Arguably the worst of Season 1.

 

Well, I like Homeward and Alternative Factor. Not the best but entertaining enough.

 

Actually, Worf did mention in the first season that he had an adopted brother, so Nikolai Rozhenko didn't come completely out of the blue.

I seem to recall a complaint many had about TNG season 7 was for some reason the crew kept reuniting with their family that year, and in many cases learning about unknown family members. The premiere has Data's brother, then there's an episode about Geordi's mother which also features his father and sister. Then Deanna's mother returns and we learn about Deanna's long lost sister with her father also making a cameo. Then Data meets his mother and has a chat with his father. Then Worf's adopted brother. Then Dr. Crusher attends her grandmother's funeral, with granny's reanimated corpse making an appearance by the end of the episode, and granny's ghost lover featured throughout the episode. Then Wesley returns and chats with his dad's ghost. Or something. Then Worf meets a grown up Alexander claiming to be some sort of functionary for the House of Mogh that conveniently Worf had never met previously. Then Picard meets a young man he believes to be his son. Then the Enterprise itself gives birth to a child entity.

TNG season 7 was all about family.

 

See, that tells you how mediocre and sometimes forgettable Season 1 was. I didn't even remember Worf mentioned an adopted brother.

 

I remembered it more from the Starfleet Academy Young Adult book series.

 

There's also Worf who had kids with Deanna in another universe... And also Deanna spurned by Worf Whom she kills in a kind of telepathic dream or whatever the hell that was...

 

That Troi business must have done a number on Worf. I think my headcanon now is that Worf was colder and much more of a jerk in DS9 than TNG because of losing Troi to Riker in TNG Season 7.

 

He was mentioned in Heart of Glory

 

That's the exchange I suspected, so I guess I do remember it.

 

I’ll actually take “The Alternative Factor” over “ Mudd’s Women” any day. I know that’s an “unpopular opinion…” but I have to be honest.

 

Same. Almost any of the Mudd episodes rate far lower on the rewatch value for me in TOS.

 

Meh. I just find Eye of the Beholder boring and stupid, it doesn't make me actively hate the characters like Homeward does for me regarding Picard.

 

Bring back Simon Rozhenko!

 

I agree too. Alternative Factor simply doesn't work. Mudd's Women is actively terrible.

 

Same here. I have to admit to skipping most of TNG when I try to rewatch it, but those four episodes get skipped extra hard. I have to admit I do like Aquiel's slight homage to The Thing, with the shapeshifting alien masquerading as a dog, especially when it tried to kill Geordi. Was 'Suspicions' the episode where Bev tries to solve a murder?
