Justice League official "Zack Snyder" cut on HBO Max

I dunno. Seems to me that if his arc is learning how to mature into the Superman we know and love from previous versions, then whether or not he's wearing the suit yet, you're just doing another version of Smallville or Superboy.
Well he’s still Superman. Just a early Superman. Smallville was similar but he wasn’t allowed to be actual Superman there

Smallville. Not even relevant as a comparison.

If Snyder's plan was an arc that shows Clark "carefully moving from novice not knowing his place in a world of humans, to gaining confidence (and dealing with hubris) to maturing," as you put it, then that is the same story as Smallville. And only three years after Smallville ended, too!

Smallville was just a fucking TV show on an itsy-bitsy weblet that most Americans couldn't find on their TV tuner. When you're making a blockbuster movie, that doesn't even count.

I may try to watch this Snyder Uncut thing this weekend, but I'm not sure why.

Smallville was a lot of fun. Unlike many, I enjoyed the show most in its earlier years, when it was truest to its original concept and setting, and before various characters/actors began dropping out. But all ten seasons had their pleasures. It helped that I was never impatient for it to become a "Superman show" (which, of course, it always was, costume or no costume). Sometime in the next few months, I'm planning to commence a stem-to-stern rewatch, and I'm really looking forward to it.

I hope you enjoy it. I loved it here myself. The music was my favourite part.

I agree. I am rewatching Smallville. Rosenbaum is really the best Lex Luthor I have ever seen, a great actor. I am watching season 7, and he does bad things and still you can find sympathy for him (because It is also Clark's fault)

Well, Amy Adams would be a reason. But I could just watch Disenchanted again .
Well, the point was not Amy Adams in general (though that's not nothing), but her exemplary Lois Lane in specific.

That aside, you've sung the praises of Man of Steel and of Cavill's Superman many times, so I would think you'd be eager to see Snyder's continuation of that version of the character.

Not terribly. BvS was a dreary half-a-loaf of a film, and I enjoyed Dawn of Justice more for its Whedonisms than any other reason. Wonder Woman is being admirably defined by the women responsible for her solo movies, the director and the star. And the trailers for Snyder's grimfest simply look pretentious and self-serious. Snyder seems to be a one-trick slomo pony.

I'd sure like to see Cavil as Superman in a new film, though.

I enjoyed WW more here than in the 1984 film. I thought that film did a disservice to her.

Not a surprise--and the results certainly support your feeling. The first WW film was made as part of Snyder's shepherding of the DCEU, and he co-wrote & co-produced the film. When Jenkins (along with Johns) wanted to go her own way with the story (IOW, away from the influence of Snyder's DCEU), you saw how WW84 turned out.

Nah, Jenkins gets WW and what can make her stories unique to her in ways that Snyder couldn't hope to on the best day of his life.* The second WW film just has some plot elements that don't come together very well. It's not as good as the first one. So, looking forward to the third.

*How do I know this without seeing Uncut? By every other movie he's made. Tell me this one is nothing like any of them, and I'll listen to your pitch.

That's quite a trick you've managed -- liking Man of Steel without going all-in on Snyder. (Think you mean the Whedonisms in the theatrical Justice League, though.)

Jenkins is alright but I don’t think she’s anything special. Part of me wishes they got someone else for the third one. To get another take on the character
