Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

If minor characters like hugh and maddox are expected to be remembered, and again I dont expect the average casual fan will remember them from TNG it only stands to reason they will certainly remember chakotay and seven and to not address their relationship seems weird no matter how it is spun.
It was 20 years ago.

I went to my high school reunion a few years ago, and not everyone was with who they were with when we were seniors in high school. I didn't need to be spelled out to me, I figured it out on my own. People had moved on with their lives between 1997 and 2017 and not everyone who was together back then was still together now. It's not exactly rocket science.

I had a girlfriend senior year of high school, we were not a good fit, it's pretty obvious in retrospect, and no one I ran into afterwards ever asked me, "What happened to her?" They asked me, "So what have you been up to lately?"

People aren't stupid. They can put two-and-two together. So credit them with some intelligence.

True, and I have no issue with whatever sexuality she is, it was how it just came out of nowhere, no build up etc, no reference to chakotay, no matter how dull some people found him, I would say the same if it turned out picard was suddenly bisexual, or stamets was suddenly straight....you would ask where did this come from all of a sudden.

Firstly, Voyager was over 20 years ago, huge changes in what has become "norm" on TV since then. Seven has become rogue, so not a surprise her sexuality has done the same. As for Hugh, I mean, you can't be a Trek fan and not know who that was. Maddox/Icheb you may not have, heck I sure didn't at first, but the viewer isn't sidetracked by not knowing.

but no one cares about you.....no offence, you are not in the show
the viewer is suppose to be interested in the characters of the show, so it is only natural if they are expected to be invested in seven's character they would be curious.

Edit....in reference to Garth
No offense taken. But it doesn't have to be me, it's just an example of how things work in general. And people can figure out, "Oh, they were together and now they're not, they broke up!"

I think you know this too, and are just keeping this going to keep the argument going. Do you really think Seven and Chakotay made a good pair? Tell that to me with a straight face. Let's see if you're lying or not. They had zero chemistry. ZERO.

They're not together anymore because they just weren't a good fit. You know it too. You just don't want to say it.

One more point about this, then I'm done. If people really wondered what happened to Seven/Chakotay, we'd have seen several threads about it in the PIC Forum or at least one that would never end. We'd have had posters going on and on and on about it. The Gatekeepers have given Picard a lot of shit, but not about that; from what I've seen. The Gatekeepers will jump on anything and everything they can. So the fact that they haven't in this case (with the exception of right here) actually says something.

I I dont care if their relationship was good or bad, that is not the point, not do I care if seven is now bi, straight or whatever, it is how seven was last seen with chakotay, no matter how dull you think he is, you would have thought there would have been some sort of reference.

Where would you have referenced it?

I can't think of a suitable spot between the vengeance and genocidal extragalactic AI invasion.

Picard didn't reference the Crushers, either. That would've been way more relevant than Chakotay.

TMP doesn't mention any of Kirk's old girlfriends or his son. TFF doesn't mention Gillian. Or Saavik. First Contact doesn't mention anyone from DS9. Nemesis ignores Worf's diplomatic career.

None of this matters in the slightest.

Rumours abound that a major TNG character will be killed off that will set the story of season 2 in motion......so that will be one of (Riker, Picard, Q, Guinan or as rumored to appear) Wesley or Geordi...)
Season 2 is a long form version of Tapestry/Times Arrow....
Season 3 is looking like long form version of First Contact...

More to follow...back soon.

But suddenly Seven is bisexual, a trait not seen in the YEARS of voyager
[...]
Was not a big fan of the android part either as to me picard becoming one was another thing that was out of character.
Bi means both, we've seen one, which doesn't rule out the other.
Yes, how out of character for a guy who used to be alive to suddenly die from a deadly disease, and then other characters deciding to give him a new body. :guffaw:

Do you still reference your first relationship from high school or college 25 ys later? I mean, unless it's a reunion of said school or college, or you meet people who've last known you then.

Considering how much blowback the first season got from killing off minor characters like Hugh and Icheb just for teh dramaz, this would be an absolutely awful choice to kick off season 2.

Edit: I mean, they would be fucked both ways. Either they don't , make a big deal out of it, and it comes across as cheap drama, or they give it weight...and it's Season 1's Data plot all over again.

Until I see links I'm gonna treat this the same way I do an InfoWars story. Extreme skepticism followed by possible Gifs.

The only two deaths that wouldn't seem like they did it just for the sake of doing it would be Beverly's, because that's what I expected even before Season 1 was released (and you can see old posts of mine where I said that's what I thought), and it seems like something that would fit the fabric of Picard...

... and Ro. Mainly because she was in the Maquis and there's a very good chance she was killed when the Dominion slaughtered them during the fifth season of DS9. If she survived, then that would be the surprise, not the other way around.
