Justice League official "Zack Snyder" cut on HBO Max

I get that but they did that with Superman Returns and very little saw it. I don’t mind a reimagining of his origin as it had only been done once before, unlike Batman

I'm not saying they can't or shouldn't do an origin story. M'rk said they could have done many different things with the property, you said that S&L was a bad example because it's not the origin and MoS is...my point is that they chose to do the origin, for whatever reason. S&L was just an example by M'rk of an alternate approach. Not doing it that way doesn't preclude many other approaches.

They chose to do Kal's origin, and skip Bruce's. Totally legit choices, but not the only ones that could be made. Obviously. :)

I must say that I absolutely love the new soundtrack which makes me understand how absolutely inadequate the one present in the previous version was.

By the way, I can't find this bit of info on Internet: does anyone know who decided to replace the original composer with Danny Elfman (who obviously was not the best person for a film like that) in the original versione of the movie?

I loved it so much that I’m one of the suckers that bought the vinyl. :)
I think it was Whedon himself that brought in Elfman into it. I wouldn’t blame him that much for it as he only had a short period of time to compose it. I do think his choices of using his Keaton Batman and Johns Superman theme were Ill-advised. They didn’t go well with the movie at all. Especially using the Superman theme during the part where he’s just been resurrected and is attacking Flash.

But MoS is the beginning of Superman. There are only so many variations you can do of that

Not really. There are a lot of versions that could be done. Morrison's 2011 version of the early years of Superman was actually very close to Snyder's but it was much better done in terms of remaining true to the spirit of the character. Clark as close friends with Jimmy who was the same age; Morrison's Luthor could have easily been played by Jesse Eisenberg; and the first arc of his story could have been a great movie with Brainiac as the villain.

IDK - In a way they are doing the Superman origin story, and remember that in the pilot they showed the first appearance of Superman in their universe with a flashback. As for the origin story they're telling it through his son with superpowers as said son's powers begin to manifest themselves; and we learn about aspects of Kal-El's origin as he relates how he dealt with the emergence of various powers.

And that is a very unique take which I think helps this series quite a bit.

Saw this again over the past 2 days now it's on bluray. Holy shit I love it even more. It's such a shame the storyline won't continue, even if a few of the characters will. This is seriously perfect, as if they made a superhero movie just for me.

And I had the weird thought that maybe in Aquaman they are all doing that dolphin speak underwater but our universal translators have been upgraded.

Interesting theory that Crisis is the reason for the change, but that would mean Oliver made things worse. :)
It would explain Steppenwolf's change in appearance from BvS Ultimate Edition and Cyborg's origin which was portrayed slightly differently between BvS and the theatrical cut.. Maybe the Whedon cut was the only way for Oliver to save Silas Stone?

For once, there were a group of films capturing the best versions of the characters in stories worthy of their legacy as fantasy characters.

In a podcast interview, Zack Snyder said Matthias Schoenaerts (Red Sparrow, The Old Guard) was his backup plan if Ben Affleck had said no to Batman v Superman and there were even discussions.

Why would they distance themselves from Man of Steel? That movie was awesome. Truly felt like a “next gen” superhero movie to me.
Because they seem to be making a point of taking the franchise in a very different direction from the one it was going in under Snyder. A lot of people weren't happy with his version of Superman, so I have feeling that even if Cavill does appear in another Superman movie, they are going to go with a version closer to what those people are looking for. They already seemed to be shifting more in that direction with Whedon's Justice League, so that shift will probably continue whenever we see Cavill Superman again.

But the whole point of Snyder’s take was that he would eventually get there. He was doing the long story with Superman.
Never understood the people who didn’t like MoS. I just assumed they were mad. :)

Which was a disaster, with ZSJL acting as an official and fan-supported rebuke of the Whedon crap. Snyder had Superman carefully moving from novice not knowing his place in a world of humans, to gaining confidence (and dealing with hubris) to maturing across three films. ZSJL clearly continued the natural growth Snyder intended for Superman, and if WB produces a Cavill film where the character is Superman-in-performer-only (or worse, molding him from stale versions of the past), once again, WB will be in self-destruct mode attempting to "fix" what never needed it in the DCEU (hence the Whedon disaster).

With people like you and @thribs maybe, but there are a lot us that would be a lot happier with "the stale version from the past". Since that is the Superman that we love, and want to see on screen. At least we're getting that version Superman & Lois now.
