Spoilers Star Trek Picard Season 2 Hopes and Predictions

If train A leaves station X every sunday and train B arrives in station y on thursday mornings, is it time as a nation to invest in public transportation?

Therefore the "golem" may not only have Picard's rough appearance and memories, it may have a perfect map of his neural structure as well.
From what we were told on screen, I'm pretty sure it does have a perfect map of his neural structure - isn't that inherent in what Ghost Data told Picard?

It also seems that the absence of such a perfect map of the neural structure was the reason Data's transfer of his memories into B4 failed, and is the reason Data couldn't be restored to life in a new body.

Are you the same person even if you are asleep/unconscious/in a coma?

Are you the same person after going through a transporter?

are you the same person when made a borg? Or when made a not-borg?

which Riker was the right one in second chances?

what about a time travel duplicate like Picard in Time Squared?

what if you convert to energy like Lonely among us?

How about if you go into the nexus and part of you stays there?

Totally different situations. There is nothing left of picard on the atomic level. His brain, heart are gone. The only thing that exists now is a copy of his "consciousness ". So Picard still died.

What's left now is robot picard.

But there is nothing left of myself from 10 years ago on an atomic level. Yet I exist. I exist... I'm pretty sure I exist. Please tell me, I exist...

The nexus?

The Times Squared duplicate?

How about when he traveled through time in say Times Arrow?

What was left of Picard on an atomic level in Lonely Among Us?

What was left of Riker on an atomic level in Second Chances (or rather when the duplicate was made years before Second Chances)?

How about Worf when he went universe hopping in Parallels?

What about when someone has an orb experience?

What happens at a molecular level when you travel through a transporter, you apparently remain conscious.

What about Scotty when he stayed in the transporter for 80 years?

There's no clear answer when someone is gone or not

(that does remind me though - what happened to Picard's human body?)

You keep making this assertion as if it's axiomatic in both reality as well as the Trekverse that a thing's continuity is tied to the atoms that are a part of it, but there is absolutely no evidence for that statement. Ultimately all categorizations are essentially human constructs.

For example, we assign the same name to the City of Jerusalem as in biblical times, but not a single building from that time period remains standing on the surface (the "Old City" is really from the Middle Ages, with the Roman-era city buried underneath it). There is no physical continuity at all between the two cities (possibly some of the road patterns) but there is a conceptual continuity because of a number of concepts which really exist solely within human consciousness (history, religion, ethnicity, etc.)

We are thus free as outside observers to define "Picardness" in any way we so choose. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is a duck is a perfectly valid philosophical perspective. Indeed, we are given no suggestions within the story that there is any other possibility. Soong was creating the "golem" explicitly so he wouldn't have to die, which suggests that he (the scientist who would know best) was sure his first-person experience would continue, and it would not merely be a "copy." Picard himself has no crisis of identity, everyone treats him as being the same person - even the camera treats him as the same person. We have zero reason to doubt it's "him" in all meanings that matter for the purpose of the story.

Of course, we are not in the first-person experience of Picard. We cannot know if Jean-Luc experienced personal oblivion and a new Jean-Luc came into being (though we cannot experience oblivion regardless). But I also cannot personally vouch for anyone else other than myself having a first-person conscious experience. The only thing I can truly know with certainty is that I exist.

But there is nothing left of myself from 10 years ago on an atomic level. Yet I exist. I exist... I'm pretty sure I exist. Please tell me, I exist...

Haha
....Well remember we already talked about that. The brain and heart. There are cells that remain with is our entire lives.

But again. Nothing left of the Picard we knew. His brain is gone.

Again different situations. They did not die.
Picard died this time...

Have you defined death (in a star trek scenario)?

How about In Tapestry when Picard died?

You mortals are so obtuse. Why do you persist in believing that life and death are such static and rigid concepts. Why, I can take your life and give it back to you again with the snap of a finger.

Is the Neelix resurrected by Seven's nanoprobes the same Neelix? He has been a corpse for 18 hours with no brain activity at all. He literally said he had no recollection of anything during those eighteen hours, so there's no hard evidence for our assumption that it's the same consciousness. Shouldn't he be considered a brand new person after this? He can, after all, be simply newly installed, Borg-sourced "software" running on "repaired" "hardware" accessing the same "data" from the "internal memory."

There is a difference between cells and atoms, you know?
