Were I younger (or heck, maybe not. I'm only 50), and the powers had to do with strength and agility, I'd probably try out for a professional sport team (baseball, soccer or football) and just use my powers just enough so that I could play well without blowing everyone else out of the water.

If I could fly, well, I'd suit up and take to the skies and just have some fun not having to drive from place to place.

If I had laser eyes, I'd sell my services as a well digger.

I would try and use my powers to help where ever I could, but I would try to establish some kind of a working relationship with the police and government. I wouldn't want to work for them directly, but I would at least want to establish some kind of rules about how and when I help, so they're not trying to arrest me or get in my way every time I get involved.
Would supervillains be a thing in this world? If so then I would pretty much focus exclusively on them, and leave the regular criminals to the cops.

No supervillains :). So, you people who want to fight criminals, would you work probono? :)

It is interesting how many people here, unlike the answers given in the Italian FB group, would like to fight crime. Do you think your police are not doing a good job or what?

From what I read in the newspapers, the problem of American law enforcement would not seem that they are not equipped enough to fight crime (see militarization of the police), but its excessive force even when it is not needed. What would be the usefulness of a superhero in such a scenario?

It's nothing like that for me, I would just want to good for other people with my powers.

Go somewhere where there were a crapload of bad guys, innocents at risk, and the cops were either paid off or overwhelmed. It wouldn't be pretty and it would probably stop being fun real quick. But I would burn the whole thing down, or die trying.

Skipper, it sure sounds like you're trying to talk people out of fighting crime...are you sure you're not actually trying to put together a villain team? ;)

"Excessive force cops" usually means beatings or shootings, resulting in injuries or death. If a Luke Cage type were to intervene, they can stop the situation without fear of themself being killed. You can just wade right in and take the weapons out of the bad guys' hands. Invulnerability removes the fear of injury or death, so stopping a dangerous situation would be more like just holding the door open for someone. It'd be selfish not to help where you could.

Ok, cool. That does change my answer a bit. With a WW level ability set you can pretty much go wherever you want and operate entirely independently. Down more on a Cage/Rogers level you're really dependent on having some sort of organization to work with.

I'd consider seeing if there was, say, some search and rescue group willing to accept some help but outside of that orsomething similar it'd be pretty much limited to local disasters (probably fire rescue and car accidents mostly) and just generally helping people (Habitat for Humanity, that sort of thing). Perhaps just a general job at the fire dept. would be a good idea since otherwise helping people would always have to take a backseat to making a living somehow.

We established before that there are no super villains in this world, so does that mean I am the only person with powers in the whole world?

The only super-power I'd want is some kind of limited precognition. I could make my fortune at the Blackjack table, day trade, avoid accidents, and use it to generally choose the right course of action. I would also use it to get hints about whether people are trustworthy or not. Once financially stable, I would be in a much better position to help others (maybe) or just become an outright super-villain.

I kind of feel like that power would make you see your own death (or other people's) but only right before it happened so you couldn't do anything to stop it anymore...
