Yeah, but again, tragedy is baked into TWD franchise. Back in February I predicted Dorie might be a character who could be killed off, but despite of his popularity, like Dale, Shane, Lori, Hershel, Andrea, Beth, Carl, Madison, Nick and other major characters in WD franchise history, there was no real protection from death. That--at least--keeps the series' events from appearing like there's as much plot armor as enjoyed by the characters of other TV series.

At this point, I don't let losing a character I like in the TWD shows effect my enjoyment. They're pretty quick to kill off beloved characters, and they're also good at introducing new, interesting characters, so that helps make up for it.
I'm curious how John Glover's character is going to fit into what's going on right now. Is his storyline going to be going alongside the stuff with Virginia, or will that be tied up first? From the trailers it looks like he's going to the leader of the "the end is the beginning" people, so I'm assuming he's going to be a new Big Bad, not just a one off.

Sometimes a show needs to kill off a beloved fan favourite character in order to convey a sense of anything goes, though I'll agree that sometimes some shows get in the habit of killing beloved characters just for shock value. But, according to Talking Dead, Dorie's death is going to have profound consequences for the rest of the season, so that does seem to indicate there's a plan here other than the shock of "the guy everyone loves just died."

Glad to hear he won't just be forgotten about. Overall I think both shows have been pretty good about deaths having an effect, at least in the immediate aftermath.

One can hope his death has some larger effect; in the past, characters--especially those who spoke of living another (non-confrontational) life only had a short-lived effect of survivors (Dale, Hershel, et al.). But the one thing I do not want to see is Dakota just end up forgiven for murdering Dorie. No amount of strain or abuse from Virginia justifies her view of life (having no meaning--other than her own).

I didn't know John Glover was going to be on the show. That does help create a little more interest for me. Of course next year when Walking Dead ends they can then bring Negan and some of the others over while Carol and Darryl go do the spin-off.

I'd be cool with that. Maybe they have to get rid of a warlord terrorizing a community, maybe they have to help fix up a town's irrigation system. Random odd jobs. But with zombies :)

Got a episode for the show. A Weekend at Bernie's rift were our stars help out two guys who are dressing up a zombie and pretending he is alive around other people in the community. Seems the dead zombie use to be the leader but the guys can't bring themselves to tell the community their leader has died so they have been doing this sharad.

That's kind of what I'm expecting the Daryl and Carol series to be, a road trip show with them traveling around the country on his motorcycle.

Where is he going to keep getting gas from I wonder to keep his motorcycle going. It's possible they might just be riding horses. Maybe give the show a western feel. Or maybe set the show in New York that has been disconnected from the mainland and do Escape from New York were the city has a mix of different gangs and free roaming zombies in the mix.

I've been wondering about his motorcycle for the last couple seasons. Pretty much everyone else is riding horses, or in horse drawn wagons and carts, but Daryl is still using his motorcycle. If there's enough gas and parts around for his motorcycle, I would think they would be enough for cars too.

You would think at some point a community like this would get a oil well and refinery plant running and basically keep a fleet of functioning vehicles including some oil tankers to basically bring gas all the time.

I too hope they don't do that, especially after this episode established Dakota has her own dark interpretation of the world around her, with Dorie even commenting at one point "you're beginning to sound like your sister."

Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if they did indeed go ahead and haver her forgiven by the end of the season.

Probably. After Charlie murdered Nick, there were a few episodes of her self-loathing thinking Alicia hated her, but in the end, she was forgiven and is now Alicia's sidekick. This should not happen with Dakota, but yeah, the way the showrunners occasionally see evil, good and redemption, Dakota will skirt by it all, even getting June to forgive her.

I was surprised with what happened to John but didn't feel the "shock" that usually comes. Diminishing returns, maybe? I also wonder if they have enough left in the tank anymore to keep it interesting. Losing a character should shake up the status quo and be a challenge to step up and shake up the characters and dynamics in new interesting ways and build interest and I'm skeptical that they will be able to do that.

Not the lowest viewed episode but... Second lowest. 1.17 up from 1.09 for the finale. Has a final season been announced for this show yet?

Well I saw tomorrow’s FTWD and all I’ll say is it is one of FTWD’s best episodes (and one of the best episodes of the franchise).

A lot of terrible reviews of it on imdb already despite the high score.
