Or maybe it's the rock-looking big guy. Didn't Shatner want to use rock aliens in TFF? Isn't there a deleted scene with Rock Man or something like that?

Oh, yeah, that would make more sense.

...that said, I'm still going for the left field, bonkers idea!

    But...the burn wasn't the end...

You'd wait until after shows start before you started advertising them?

They already showed up in Lower Decks.

I could see them doing a story where the teens encounter a planet that's been thrown into chaos due to Voyager's influence where Janeway is hated, and it calls everything they've learned about the Federation and Janeway into question.

I really wish people would actually read the posts I respond to before taking my responses to those posts out of context.

    Very well.
The answer is we don't know. And possibly won't know until the show airs because I imagine that is part of the story is either figuring out why the ship is there or were it came from, from the point of view of the main cast, aside from Janeway hologram.

I’m sure CBS will give more information prior to the show debuting.

I would only care if the entire Kazon whatevertheycallthemselves got completely 100% assimilated by the Borg.

Care enough to laugh my ass off.

Don't you remember? Seven said the Borg rejected them as unworthy of assimilation.

They should have Kazon cosplaying as Borg, trying to convince everyone they got assimilated.

 I did forget about that. TBH, I've tried to forget damn near everything about that show. The fact that this new one seems to be drawing heavily from Voyager mythos is a big strike against it in my book, but I do nonetheless plan on viewing it with an open mind, hopefully not to my detriment.

"Heavily?" I'm not sure about that. I get the impression (from the character art) that the intention is to feature mostly all-new aliens and stories, as a standalone entry point for new viewers. Most of the Delta Quadrant is still uncharted, after all, so just being in the DQ doesn't require reusing specific cultures and species from the tiny, tiny part of it previously visited by Voyager. It seems more likely to me that they chose that setting specifically because it didn't have to connect to past continuity, because it's full of wide open uncharted spaces to explore. (At least, I hope so.) It seems that Janeway will be the main point of connection, but since it's only a hologram of Janeway meant as a training program, that's kind of a peripheral connection.

Yes, perhaps "heavily" is too strong a word. But they're definitely going back to that well to a degree, which gives me pause.

Like I said, I will view it with an open mind (especially since my daughter seems to be interested in it) and see how it plays out. A lot's happened in the audience zeitgeist since the last time VOY was on the air. I'm optimistically hoping for a more evolved take on the subject (albeit for a kids' show). We shall see.

Spinning off a couple of aspects of Voyager doesn't mean it will be like Voyager. Look at DS9. It was built around concepts from TNG -- Bajor, Cardassia, wormholes, Trill, Wolf 359, not to mention the O'Briens and eventually Worf -- but it was very distinct from TNG. Torchwood spun off Captain Jack, the Cardiff Rift, and Torchwood itself from Doctor Who, but it couldn't have been more different from Doctor Who.

The same setting doesn't mean the same subject. Voyager was about a Federation crew trying to get home. Prodigy is about a group of alien teens discovering a Starfleet ship that's come to their home space and becoming its crew. It's pretty much the direct opposite take.
