Probably the death toll was at MOS level. They also genocided an entire people offscreen with a casual line about a storm. This movie was not concerned about regular people dying.

They weren’t even watching. They were sitting down eating foodAre you saying that if Godzilla showed you up outside your window you wouldn’t want to stay and watch?
Do you know how far in advance they had to book for that restaurant?!?They weren’t even watching. They were sitting down eating food

Well, on screen with actual people screaming in fear and pain is a little different, you know? All this bullshit about people moaning about the destruction in MoS. People obviously haven’t read many comics with him in it.
So he tried to make it more realistic and people complain. He moves the other fights into deserted areas and people still complain. You can’t win.Well, on screen with actual people screaming in fear and pain is a little different, you know?
Well, in the first Avengers there was a lot of destruction in an urbane setting and people didn't really complain. Evidently there they found the right balance. So he tried to make it more realistic and people complain. He moves the other fights into deserted areas and people still complain. You can’t win.

I feel like the most unrealistic thing in this movie isn't the giant monsters, but the fact that the guy who runs a kaiju conspiracy podcast isn't trying to convince the world that monsters are a government hoax.Or else people just ignored the evacuation warnings, just like they ignore instructions to quarantine and wear masks. "How dare you tell me to interrupt my dinner to avoid getting stepped on by a giant monster? That's fascism!"
There was one funny scene I noticed. When Kong came out of that hole and attacked Godzilla; causing him to collapse into a building, you see people within that building get up from their chairs and run away. My issue is that this building was right by the hole and Godzilla was waiting by it for quite some time. Those people in that building should be long gone. Not still eating their food.
It's Japan - Godzilla attacking is like Tuesday over there.
Some of the CGI in the Kong vs Godzilla fight in the ocean looked off. The CGI monsters look better at night than they do during daylight.I'm curious to know which parts you thought were wonky. I thought the CG was great throughout.
Nothing stood out in a negative way to me. But in fairness to the CG team, doing a fight with two huge creatures (one of which is covered in hair) in the day and with massive water sims is probably amongst the hardest things to do in CG.Some of the CGI in the Kong vs Godzilla fight in the ocean looked off.
