Spoilers "Superman & Lois" Season 1 spoiler discussion!

Just saw on the official Facebook page that Episode 2 now streaming on the CW app is an extended cut. Curious. Have to check it out when I get home from work.
Interesting. What’s the episode length? The CW app doesn’t work for me and so I bought the iTunes version

I really liked ep 2. I liked that it let Lois be the intrepid reporter that she is known for. I liked seeing the Fortress of Solitude and seeing some Kryptonian mythology. The action scenes with Superman were high quality. I am also really intrigued by the backstory with Captain Luthor. I am assuming that Captain Luthor is Lex Luthor from a parallel universe? I am definitely intrigued with that plot. I feel like they can do a lot with that concept of Luthor trying to stop our Superman from becoming evil Superman. We also saw that Luthor gave the dog tag to Gen. Lane. Will Luthor recruit Lane to turn against Superman? It was interesting that Luthor acknowledged that our Superman is not yet evil Superman but he thinks will become evil Superman in the future. So will something happen in the future that could turn our Superman evil? In the flaskback, we see that evil Superman was wearing the black suit which I think is the suit when Superman dies and resurrects. I am just really interested in where this plot will go.

Show of hands, who did the 7734 thing back in the day on LED display calculators like the TI-30?

I'll start: Me. :)

Any theories as to whether 7734 is a key, password, any other kind of double meaning, or something, and if so to what?

Yep. You could tell by his head shape

It was Wolé Parks in the pilot. He was first announced as a regular back on May 12, 2020, and the pandemic delayed filming on the pilot until the fall of 2020.

Looking at Parks's photos on IMDb, it certainly looks like the same guy to me. He has an unusual head shape that looks more rounded from the front and more elongated from the side or rear.

Watched it. Considerable additional material, including a short scene between Clark and Lana at the BBQ (the one from the trailers, though the "wish I could get drunk" line is still not included), and also a brief exchange between Jonathan and Jordan at the party. Most significant is a scene between Clark and Sam Lane, which contains what I would think might be some pretty plot-relevant info. That leads into a longer version of the scene between Clark and Lois on the porch back in Smallville. So, four new or extended scenes.
The S-shield is displayed upside-down on Captain Luthor's suit (check the left shoulder):

Probably the dog tags are worn the same way.
Upside-down dog tags confirmed on rewatch.

7734 has its roots in the comics, in a storyline involving Sam Lane, though it may be employed differently here:

As for this week's S&L and as a former newspaper reporter, Lois actually covered a city council meeting! I had to sit through my fair share of those in my time as a journalist.

And she had a notepad. And so did the other reporter. This show's portrayal of journalism is certainly way better than Lois and Clark and Supergirl.

It's possible that this Captain Luthor is the equivalent of DC comics Earth Three Luthor where he was the only hero fighting against Ultraman and the Crime Syndicate of America, with a little 'Red Son' thrown in as well.

All I know is 4377 will be some code that Superman needs to stop black Lex Luthor at some point this season.

I don’t watch Batwoman but the trailers kept saying she’s been stabbed with kryptonite. Looks like we know where some is now. :)

I'm 2 episodes behind, but yeah: she was shot with a kryptonite bullet. She's been dealing with that for a while. I wonder if that will be the basis for the announced cross-over between the two shows.

Seems rather dickish to only take Jordan to the fortress. Jonathon deserves to know his history as well. Also, could it be possible that Jordan needs to be close to his brother for his powers to work?

I think that is a very good assumption--and it seems that the second episode is building up to that. I also didn't get it until this episode that Jordan is named for Jor-El.
