I wonder if maybe S&S was waiting to see how Trek novel sales balanced with the new price-point and the numbers are in and support continuing with the monthly release schedule from before the contract expiration. I guess we'll find out if there's another spring hiatus next year (or the year after, given that ripples from the pandemic probably won't have completely faded by then).
I could've saved hours working with the deck plan if I'd just known La Sirena was bigger on the inside than on the outside!
Well, hot damn! Color me excited! It's going to be wonderful to have monthly Trek novels back in my life, for however long this latest run lasts.
Although already posted in the Litverse Finale thread, I'll repost here in case there's someone who checks this thread out but not that one (hey, it could happen). Plot details for the Coda trilogy and DS9 Revenant
And I keep speculating the old friend to be Q. Who else could be involved in something to this scale?
As we saw in The Wrath of Khan, old friend is definitely in the eye of the beholder. "Still? Old friend?!"
The future at war with the past, huh? Maybe that means this will be the greatest crossover of all time and all eras of Trek lit will collide, and the Lit counterparts to new Picard and Lower Decks characters can also appear. I mean, I don't know how you would depict it, but it would be pretty fun to have a scene like in this one issue of Crisis on Infinite Earths where dozens of DC characters from various time periods and Earths were all standing around. Even "dead" characters can join in the fun, since it's all eras colliding. Section 31 Trip Tucker, P8 Blue, Taran'atar, Astall the crybaby bunny rabbit counselor from the early Voyager relaunch novels, her replacement Hugh Cambridge, Nick Keller from the Challenger, Naraht the Horta, Dr. Shenti Yisec Eres Ree, Dr. B'Oraq, Ael t'Rllailleu, Ruanek, Tim Pennington, T'Ryssa Chen, Phigus Simenon, Gary Seven with teenage Khan Singh, Mackenzie Calhoun wearing a cloak of civilization, somebody from Spock Must Die!, and the badass team-up of Natasha Riker-Troi and Rene Picard: everybody all together!
I'm calling it now. The Big Bad is gonna be Omne, back from his other-universe exile with James. And they're pissed. *trailer music fades in*
