The DS9 Handbook is out on Tuesday. I noticed that on Amazon UK the price has dropped below £20.00 too. Snap it up!
Probably not, since they're mostly recycling the late 90's Star Trek Fact Files graphics, and they didn't make enough on the E-E to fill an entire book.
I was a little surprised they didn't do the Enterprise-D and E in one book since the covered both the letterless and A in the same book.
It may have to do with TOS and movie Enterprise being technically sort of the same class of ship, Constitution-class (unless you get really technical about the television series version being a Starship-class). Enterprise A is a copy and paste of the movie version of TOS Enterprise. Enterprise D and E are entirely different classes of ship, there isn't dialogue to smooth over the different look between series and movie, they are flat out different. That may be why. Don't get me wrong, I like the Sovereign class Enterprise, but it seems unlikely to get it's own book.
Ben Robinson teased a potential "Enterprise-E" book in the early goings of the project, this was even before the release of the first one. It is highly unlikely, but i hold out hope that it happens. These seem to have sold well for them so far.
Thanks! Got one of the last 5 in stock. I'd love an Enterprise-E book! While I like each Ennie, this one is my fav. Ideally (but not realistically), the book could cover each iteration of the E-E/Sovereign class and its inter-movie refits. Including Eaves' post-Nemesis refit, which was realized in STO: https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11361063 (new aztecing, pylons touch more of the secondary hull, the dividing diagonal on the secondary hull). It could cover the Argo-type jeep and its inclusion in Lower Decks (when Eaglemoss got the rights to that). Perhaps fill in some blanks by relying on deleted scenes (library scene in ST IX), licensed material like novels and games (Elite Force II), e.g. a list of other Sovereign class ships, more rooms, cetacean ops, etc. It might make sense to wait with such a book until after PIC and LD season 2, in case the ship turns up.
Trekmovie has a preview of the DS9 Handbook: https://trekmovie.com/2021/02/09/pr...ar-trek-deep-space-nine-illustrated-handbook/
I believe that we are supposed to be getting one for the NX-01 next...since ENT's anniversary is next up on the docket. Don't know if this is still happening, but hopefully.
I always liked the illustrations in Star Trek: Fact Files. Used to pour over them before everything went online.
Ben Robinson worked on the old Fact File books which might explain why they went with that style for these handbooks.
Now that I think of it, the old Official DVD collection expanded Fact Files-style info sheets as far as Nemesis. I think those old mags only covered TOS and TNG though.
They made new fact files sytle images for the DSC Connie bridge and the DSC era gear (communicator, uniforms, phaser) for the Enterprise handbook. They could make new images for the Ent Era stuff
Cool, I hope we can get ones for the Ent-E and NX-01. I wonder if they'd be willing to start totally from scratch and do books for Discovery and La Sirena?
I have a question about the TOS handbook, which I finally decided to stop putting off. I really love the bridge layouts which I'm familiar with from ST magazines I've collected in the past. I remember flipping through TOS handbook in the bookstore, but I can't remember if the book includes both TMP and TWoK versions of the bridge (and for that matter, TVH, TFF, and TUC versions for Enterprise-A)?
