DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Lots of good news on the DC movie front today. Heard of those Superman 78 and Batman 89 sequel comics before coming here. Saw that “when Hell freezes over joke” and had to back track to see what it was about.

Great to hear The Flash movie is finally filming. Only moments ago with those comic announcements I wondered if the all but official Michael Keaton’s appearance is part of the timing of that comic now. No doubt they had to get the rights to his likeness. Which its reasonable to assume is part of an overall new contract with DC and WB.

Just saw the news about the Batman '89 and Superman '78 comics, those should be fun. I'm curious how they're going to relate to the sequels. The DC article about them does mention the Batman comic bring Catwoman back, so it sounds like that might be after Returns.

Rumor mill is saying HBO Max is going to make a Hellblazer show without Matt Ryan and they're looking for a Riz Ahmad type for the lead. Supposedly it's going to be more of a horror show.

Oh wow, that Flash movie looks like it will have more heroes involved than Crisis. :)

There was talk of a Supergirl movie at one point, but I don't recall if it ever had anyone attached to it from the creative side. It would be cool to see a big screen version again for sure.

So, how long before the Internet flips out that they dared to cast a Latina actress?

Even though there's no indication that Supergirl herself will be Latina at all?

Character wise that would be impossible; unless there was a version of Mexico on Krypton or the Colony (if they go with that version of the characters origin.)

Since this is dealing with alternate universes, I was wondering if she might be from an alternate universe where the El family was the Krytonian equivalent to Latinx.

That's a meaningless concept. What, they speak Krypto-Spanish or something? This is fiction. Characters don't have to match their actors' biographical details.

"Kryptonian" is a fantasy ethnicity that's been played by people of multiple real ethnicities. Dean Cain (Lois & Clark) is a quarter Japanese (though he doesn't identify as Asian). Ayelet Zurer (the DCEU's Lara) is Israeli. The Zod family on Krypton were all played by black actors. Kryptonians on Supergirl have been played by diverse actors including Faran Tahir, Odette Annable (who's Latina), Anjali Jay, Krys Marshall, Angela Zhou, and Tim Russ. There's nothing new or startling about any of this.
