Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I was listening to the entertainment news on the radio today and the reason they're delaying Picard's filming season 2 is Patrick Stewart has to wait a couple of weeks to get the second dose of the vaccine including Gates McFadden and Levar Burton and Brent Spiner. So it maybe awhile before they start working on season 2.

I'm trying to imagine a scene between Picard and Crusher ("Beverly, I've undergone some changes recently ... ").

In all seriousness, Stewart, Spiner, and McFadden would qualify under California's vaccine guidelines, but Burton wouldn't be eligible (he's only 63; the minimum age is 65 right now).

If Burton is directing, he can wear a mask and he'll be fine.

The producers have said that Picard is not just going to be a parade of TNG cameos; everyone who appears has to serve a function in the story.

Stewart is definitely top priority. If Spiner isn't going to be appearing until later in the season, he can wait (same goes for McFadden).

How would that work? Archer on Picard or Strange New Worlds... They are in a completely different era from Enterprise.

Holodeck recreation? That would also eliminate some of the stink of the ENT finale by having a TNG character interact with an Archer hologram and get it right this time.

I'd have an easier time believing we'd see an elderly Archer (with Scott Bakula in old age make-up) in a flashback on Strange New Worlds. According to a display in "In the Mirror, Darkly", he died in 2245 around the same time when the Enterprise was commissioned.

That seems to be the most natural fit.

Yeah, but that display never made it on screen, so they really don't need to follow it (hell they wouldn't need to even if it did)

Please don't bring back Archer and Beverly Crusher unless you want to put the audience to sleep. Talk about bland central. If they insist on those characters may as well put in cardboard cutouts in the show instead of wasting money on the actors.

Q would be great though.

Beverly Crusher was a major part of Picard's life. It makes sense to have her in PIC. She's the one main character who wasn't mentioned or referenced in the first season, aside from Wesley. She's conspicuous by her lack of reference or mention, and remains unaccounted for. IMO, there's a story-reason behind it. I'm not saying I think she's dead (like I thought before), but maybe there's a kernel of truth in the AGT Future where something happened between Picard and Crusher. Not necessarily marriage and divorce, but something.

Kirsten Beyer has said none of the main TNG characters are dead yet in the shows lore, other than Data obviously.

But that was around a year ago, things can change in the writers room very easily.
