I bet the calendar date in WandaVision has something to do with the creation of the Fantastic Four (issue #1 came out in Nov. 1961, so, the Marvel Superhero spark may have been born on that date). Hence, this could be a nod to the introduction of the Fantastic Four in the MCU.

Oh, I like that theory! I don't know if that's what they're going towards but I think that's an interesting concept.

I was thinking along those lines when I commented on the commercials in my review. I think they're definitely more than "just" commercials, especially since they both featured the same actors/characters.

That their powers are ill defined for one thing. That might've worked better if they'd started with the Bewitched style fantasy comedy instead of The Dick Van Dyke Show workplace/home comedy. So there's some presumption of familiarity. Not an impassable barrier to entry, but certainly a slight impediment to a viewer coming in cold.

My guess is, the items advertised represent the greatest influences on Wanda‘s life.
The bomb that set her in a path of revenge against Tony, Strucker/Hydra who turned her into an Enhanced.
My guess for the next one would feature Ultron in some shape or form of symbolism.

And in case the first commercial we saw the red light on the toaster beeping faster just before the food was done in the second commercial we heard the watch ticking faster at the very end. Representative of...? Time speeding up? Time running out?

This show wasn't even on my radar but I had some time to burn today and the eps aren't very long, so I decided to give it a go.

Interesting. I saw reruns of most of the old shows parodied here when I was a kid, and thought their styles were artfully recreated within the confines of this show. Clearly something is going on that Wanda isn't consciously aware of, and since I like mind-bendy / twisty sort of stories I think I'm going to see this one through.

The other interesting thing to me, and something I love, is the idea the Feige and his cohorts are willing to use what may be something of a 'niche' show to set up something entirely different, the way the MCU has done from the beginning leading up to the various Avengers outings. It takes the meaning of 'slow burn' and 'payoff' to entirely new levels. I think if DC hadn't been trying to jump-start the same kind of success that Marvel has, their movies could have been a lot better and the fans more invested.

Overall: pleasantly surprised, and will continue to watch. It doesn't hurt that rarely do you see a couple of actors so obviously and thoroughly enjoying what they're doing. It shows.

Nope, I'm going to keep watching and posting my opinions here. You are free to ignore my posts if you dont like it.

While there are some MCU shows coming out that I intend to skip, its the pointless crap like Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk. Wandavision is probably not technically required, but events in this show are definitely going to affect Wanda leading into Doctor Strange 2, and also a few other characters, so I'm going to watch it and comment on it.

I liked it. It's fresh and dares wander off the expected path.

I only have a little passing knowledge of Wanda's story from the old books, but I do know that it got really dark (in a sort of horrific real-life way).

Assuming that's the direction they intend to go, then I can see why they wanted to start off with such an ethereal bang.

I won't be watching either of those, Ms Marvel because I don't even like the character in the comics and She-hulk because she's not going to be she-hulk with the shitty showrunner and actress they hired. If if I can go literally years without watching most of the CW DC shows outside of the Flash, I can easily ignore the show based on a character I can't stand anyway, and even as someone who considers She-Hulk to be my favorite Marvel hero, the hiring for that show so rancid I'll skip it just like I'm skipping CWs Superman show even though I really like Superman because of its terrible decisions.

if Wandavision wasn't supposed to at least partially set up multiverse of Madness Id drop it and just read synopsis online.

It's not like I have Disney+ specifically for the MCU stuff anyway, and all those shows are going to succeed even if they're bad just based off being Marvel stuff, so my watching doesn't matter even from an analytics perspective.

Well, if you want to subject yourself to a thing that makes you upset, that's certainly your business. But you should bear in mind that at the end of the day, the only thing Disney really cares about in terms of whether or not to produce a show is how many of their streaming subscribers watch it. So all you're going to do if you keep watching this show you hate is encourage Disney to keep making it and shows like it.

I am astonished that your precognitive abilities allow you to evaluate the quality of television programs that have not yet finished production!

like I said above, my viewing doesn't matter because the shows are going to succeed regardless of their quality.

as for my precognitive abilities, You can predict the quality of the show based on actors and showrunner, kind of like how every show Scott Buck makes, like inhumans and Iron Fist, were shit. She Hulk has a terrible showrunner and a bad actress, not hard to predict how it's going to turn out.

I can't stand the current Ms Marvel in any form of media, I'm glad she exists for the demographic that likes her but I don't like most Marvel teen Heroes. I prefer DC's way of making most teen Heroes not have to deal with parents or school drama, as opposed to Marvel's more grounded approach that loves that stuff. So, just like how I completely skipped Cloak and Dagger, skipping Ms Marvel is obvious and will be pretty easy to do.

Seems counter-intuitive to watch a show you hate when you know that doing so will just add to the numbers that will prompt Disney to keep making it and things like it, but, hey, it's your life.

Jessica Gao won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program in 2018. Tatiana Maslany was nominated for the 2014 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress - Television Series Drama, the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, the 2014 Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leade Role, the 2014 ACTRA Award for Outstanding Performance - Female, the 2005 Gemini Award for Best Performance in a Children's or Youth Program or Series, the 2010 Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, and the the 2015 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series; Maslany has won the 2017 Canadian Screen Award Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, the 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 Canadian Screen Awards Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Dramatic Role, the 2014 Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series, the 2013 and 2015 ACTRA Awards for Outstanding Performance - Female, the 2010 Sundance Film Festival World Cinema Special Jury Prize for Acting, and the 2016 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

    I think I will enjoy She-Hulk.

I loved G. Willow Wilson's run on Ms. Marvel and Kamala Khan is one of my favorite superheroes. I'm really looking forward to the television adaptation.

I hope you do a better job ignoring those shows than my you did my post.
Back to your regular programming now.
That was enough of an intermission.

I noticed that most of the outdoor scenes were shot at the Warner Ranch, where a ton of movies and TV shows were filmed. Wanda and Vision are in the Griswold house, next door to the Lethal Weapon (Hazel) house, which is next to the Bewitched house, which is across the street from "The Middle" house, next to the Partridge house, etc. etc. The pool is in the park near the Small Soldiers house, almost directly across from the Partridge house.

The gazebo is on the main Warner backlot, and was used in Gilmore Girls and Hart of Dixie.

I may have missed a few things. :techman:

Certainly very intriguing so far. Two episodes is not enough to either judge the show on or get an idea of where it's going, but I'm pulled in enough to want to know where it's heading.

Paul and Elizabeth do have a wonderful chemistry together I feel.

If Wanda were attempting to create some sort of idyllic life for her and Vision, it might make sense to populate it with memories of shows she might have watched while growing up; which would explain the use of the Warner Ranch.

My guess would be as the show moves closer towards reality, the neighborhood might start looking more contemporary/realistic.

I watched both episodes last night and I am enjoying the show so far, but the sitcom setting is starting to wear a bit thin. I hope the entire season isn't going to be just recycled I Love Lucy plots with a tiny tease of what's really going on until the finale. I'm ready for the payoff to start happening.
