Canon is a joke.
Jokes don't negate something being canon.Don't tell me that the ship exploding with tribbles is also canon... That was clearly a joke.

Is it canon?I know something that's a joke.
How'd you guess?Is it canon?
We don't have to see it happen to know it did. How else did they get out and back to the Nebula?Although most are assuming that Booker was able to use the Spore Drive to jump the Discovery out of the Viridian, we never actually see that moment.
Look, sometimes if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, it's a duck. Book was in the Spore Cube, his empathic DNA or whatever was doing it's thing, and the ship jumped out of the Viridian before it exploded.Although most are assuming that Booker was able to use the Spore Drive to jump the Discovery out of the Viridian, we never actually see that moment.
He did...If Booker did use the Spore Drive...
“Well, first of all, ‘Calypso’ is incredible. I mean, it’s just, we love it. And it is now a part of Trek canon, but specifically our show’s canon.
It takes place many, many years beyond where our heroes are right now, and at some point, we will absolutely have to match up with that so that Discovery as a whole, including ‘Calypso,’ all fits together as a piece.
So certainly bringing in that voice in episode four and having — we’ll call her Zora, she doesn’t have a name at this point — but having her hide in the DOTs and be part of the story in 12 and 13 is the beginning of driving toward that.
And eventually — who knows when? — we will absolutely have to make sure that we sync up with that.”
I didn't say it doesn't matter. But the level of detail demanding makes it less enjoyable. It's the hyperfocus on details that makes me fatigued. Largely because it becomes an argument without an end because my level of knowledge doesn't match other fans and some how that means lesser enjoyment on some level.Canon is what allows people to view shows in the greater context of a shared world and makes it far more immersive and exciting than episodes in a bubble. It's flexible but it certainly matters.
Star Trek fans: overthinking it since TOS and beyond!
