Here's another view of it a couple of seconds later. It seems to be the dorsal side of some ship, but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out if it's one that we already know about or some other unknown design.

I'm thinking that maybe it might be the top of the Mars class (like the USS Le Guin), with the separated nacelles either obscured by the primary hull or off-screen.

The ship behind HQ is the flat ship with four nacelles.

I think this was the first time we actually saw that the Mars is minuscule compared to the rest, and plausibly a "scout" as opposed to a "proper ship". And the four-naceller that this mystery ship turned out to be is apparently one of the largest, in terms of hull volume.

Nice to have hierarchy to these ships, in addition to variety. I wonder whether there might be chronology there, too. Say, saucers (or rings) that have nacelles attached, from the archaic neo-Constitution to the newer ringships; then the vertical shapes with fixed or floating nacelles; then the wedges with fully separate nacelles and other components?

Maybe next season we'll actually get to see 32nd century Starfleet vessels that aren't just moored in drydock....
Yeah- 32nd Century Starfleet are a lot like 21st century boat owners- spending 90% of the time docked in the marina. Well, you DO want to be close to the drinks........

Apologies if this has already been shared. There is some new official concept art of the SF ships that provide some good detail:

These are cool designs. We did not really get to see them in action all that much this season. They were mostly just in the background. I hope we get to see some of these ships close-up and in action in Season 4.

Discovery’s shuttle bay seemed to be closed for most of this episode. Maybe so they didn’t have to keep rendering Book’s crashed ship.

Season 1 didn’t use beams, just pulses. I didn’t see discovery firing any pulses here, just beams. The other fed ships seemed to have a mix of both. But yeah it seemed to be the TOS inspired phaser sound they used in Season 2.

Also I only saw blue bring fired from the Fed ships. The Viridian used red.

My Season 1 reference was in regards to the pulses and audio with the beams and beam audio being from Season 2.

In the very first shot we get of the Discovery when the camera moves through the shield/distortion field we see Discovery either launching huge spreads of photons or pulse phasers. Take your pick as it's not said on screen.

However, in a viewscreen shot from inside the bridge of the Discovery, while Osyraa is talking you see and hear the Discovery firing pulse phasers like in Season 1. I'll try to add a screencap of it here shortly.

I'm just posting this because they have some nice enhanced/zoomed images of the ships, if you don't like listening to them just mute and scroll through the video
