Will the Burn mystery end with a damp squib?

I expect we’ll get a twist where the Child turns out to be that fan-tailed goldfish monster. But, yeah, if this is the big reveal, this will be the third straight season where I thought Discovery fumbled the main arc. Fingers crossed they give us something that pays off in the last couple of episodes.

michael will tie into it. You can’t have a huge event and not have it involve Michael.

I'm not sure what I think about what led to The Burn. Some child's tantrum causing all dilithium to explode. On the one hand, it sounds like something Charlie X, for instance, would do if he were in that type of situation. So it fits Star Trek, I'd even say Classic Star Trek... but I'm not too thrilled with it, all the same.

I'm hoping there's more to it. I want there to be more to it. If this is it, if this is the whole thing to the mystery, then... Yeah. I'd actually rather have not known what caused it.

I actually like that they went for something so balls to the wall TOS crazy instead of making it some unknown enemy or The dominion or whatever. I mean come on, it's not like we haven't seen superbeings before in Trek.

I think there is definitely more to play out, particularly regarding the monster.

An alien of an extreme age with super mental powers, in an underdeveloped child-like state.

Hmmm... Where, I wonder, have we recently seen this before?

I can't say I'm a fan of this revelation, but I am VERY glad that Starfleet wasn't responsible. I was hoping ever since we were told about the Burn that they wouldn't make the Federation the bad guys. And I'm not disappointed. :techman:
